    Quick update on my temperatures. I've now joined the TrUE club, and fitted a TrUE Black.

    Prime Large FFT load at 3.9GHz (411*9.5) have gone from 63c to 55c
    Small FFT at 3.9GHz (411*9.5) have gone from 60c to 52c
    IBT max stress at 3.9GHz has gone from 84c (YIKES!!!!!11ONE) to 70c

    Cool.
    What no copper?? How many CFM is your fan on the TrUE? Mine is only 60 max, think I need to increase it to 75 or so.

    Sadly i couldn't afford the copper. Plus I misread the specifications. I was under the impression it was 900g, but it weighs over double that. With some of my case mounts out of action, there was no way it's hold up unfortunately. I also like to vacume the house while drunk(ish) so one knock from me and it'd pull the processor and CPU socket off the board. 1.9KG (4lb) is mental.

    By all accounts after about 70 CFM the aluminium TrUEs don't scale well with extra air flow. In one review I saw (I'll try and find it for you) they put a Delta 160 CFM 1.2Amp 120*120*35 fan on the copper and aluminium versions. The aluminium's temps dropped 2c, the coppers dropped I think by 6-7. Probably has to do with the fact that copper has much more capacity and afinity for carrying heat energy.

    I can't recommend the Noctua CPU fan in my sig highly enough. It spins at only 1300 RPM, but the 9 blade design, angle of the fins and the special notches in them increase the power the fan pushes air through in confined spaces. When you place a heatsink infront of a fan, some struggle to cope, and all fans will have a reduced flow rate as I suppose about a fifth of the fan area is effectively blocked by fins.

    The Noctua is the same, but the design minimises this (so they say, and I trust them). The flow rate is 55 CFM at max speed, and is only 19dB. Because of the notched fins, the sound is different to norma;l fans too. It's a less anoying "low whoosh" of air, rather than the whine that some fans make. I'm sure D-an-W would agree, he has an identical HSF setup to me. To get temps down more, best method is to find a 3 bay 120mm fan accessory. That will feed the fan fresh external air, and do wonders for temps. It's next on my list now I have my BFG PSU and the TrUE sorted.

    Well the TrUE 120 Black is still awesome! But ya I couldn't see putting almost four lbs with a verticle case. The EP45-UD3P is "Ultra-Durable" but.. 4lbs man!! lol

    I believe you about the deminishing returns on high CFM coolers. I figured 75 CMF would be a good point to stop around. I hear good things about the Noctua and Scythe fans. I don't see Noctua making a fan in the 70+ CFM range.. but scythe does.. still looking. I have heard that Notcua put out more pressure at their rated CFM.. so I don't know. I have an large Antec P180 case with two 120mm 3 speed case fans, both doing exhaust.. I'm only @ medium right now, so I can still "kick it up a notch"

    8 hrs stable on gaming, prime95 stress, and a few runs of 7 IBT loops.. 4.12Ghz, 485FSB, 970 memory 2.0D, 9 tRD running about 60 degrees on the prime95 stress.

    My 4.6 build isn't Prime tested yet. The temps for it are:
    Motherboard: 32C
    CPU: 33
    Core 1: 38C
    Core 2: 38C
    GPU: 61C
    HDD: 32C

    While running FahGPU and FaHCPU, Chrome, Everest, Real Temp, Notepad, and background services.

    I probably won't end up stress testing it, though. I was just trying to reach a sub-10s Pi.

    Go on grishkafool, stress test it. If temps remain good in hot weather it'd be nice to run that 24/7.

    devoh, if you want a similar effect to a high CFM single fan, then use two noctua fans in push/pull. I'll bet it would be quieter than a single 70CFM fan. Also a fan rated 70CFM due to static air pressure problems won't be achieving that flow rate. The Noctua won't be achieving 55CFM either but will be close to it. I may do some push/pull testing tomorrow if I have time.

    Completed 16hrs Prime Small and 24hrs Prime Large without error.

    I rebooted to check BIOS settings and restarted Prime Blend, it failed straight away so retried Large, that failed too...WTF I thought!?!

    For it to pass (6hrs so far) Prime Blend I had to raise the MCH Core to 1.26V, has anyone come across this before?

    yeah, I have to run 1.28v MCH Core at 445 bus. The more bus the more MCH you will need. Also, after a certain point you will need to adjust the MCH Ref value some too; however, this is not a straight forward process. Lsdmeasap has a Post here regarding adjusting reference voltages... READ IT FIRST.

    I'm confused (It's easy to do that with me though).. you've had many successful overclocks and have posted the settings.. you are just trying to lock it down those different overclocks with tighter memory settings right? That's what my plan is anyways. Get a stable OC then lock down my auto's if possible. I have read in a post or two that people were not able to remove some of the auto on memory.. they even used memset to check what values it was using and set it to them, still no luck. I want to go back and read more on the clock "skew" and see if that will help lock them down. Check this review of the EP45-UD3P the guy is using skew values and nailing incredible values http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/861127

    I have seen before where one thing seems to work fine.. passes all tests, then on a reboot it refuses to post. I always figured it was my being a noob, and adjusted volts.

    you are using a spreadsheet for your overclock values, care to share what it looks like, the template?
