I too have noticed this and it freaked me out the first time. I power down my rig at night to save some $$. When I power it up from a cold boot it went into it's "OC failed loop" 4 times and on the fifth, I power down at my PS and switched it back on. Booted up fine the first time but with underclocked (failed OC) settings. Was confused since I've been running stable for a week now, haven't changed many settings. Played WoW all weekend and not a hitch. Still a little confused as to why that happened.

I've resigned myself to leaving the PC on. It's anoying, but nothing's solved it for me. I don't see why I should adjust voltages etc if it's stable. It's I assume the Dual BIOS thing getting it wrong, as it sometimes does.

Using 530x8 I get a "dual boot" when restarting, with 550x8 it works just fine...go figure

I am currently testing 540x8 as I just couldn't work out 550 yet

Sounds like you're doing well. I was wondering, there's been no real progress report for a bit (inc template etc).

4320MHz with a 540 FSb sounds sweet! Keep it up.

I am currently learning how to OC a P4 651... a buddy of mine mailed it to me to see if I could beat his 4.5GHz OC that he did on it. I got 4GHz right off the bat, but haven't had much luck after that. Its wierd, its a 800MHz FSB stock, 200x17 stock CPU (3.4GHz). Anyway, I will play with it more tonight. As a side note, I lost my left channel on my headphones after I put the P4 in the socket; but I might have pulled the cord loose inside the ear shell while I was down there... might not have anything to do with the chip.

I primed 534x7.5 blend test for 22 hours, will post the screenshot later tonight when I get home. Mostly lowered CPU voltages and tightened RAM timings.

I would run IBT & OCCT too if I were you. Prime95 isn't very trustworthy from what I've seen. It misses a lot of errors..

I can run IBT & OCCT Limpack all day long but Prime Large spits out my computer and laughs at it with my current 550x8 settings

With all possible respect, you obviously haven't seen much. It's perfectly ok.
