    Default Ga-eg45-ud2h ?

Currently have Monster with P45-UD3R, X3370 and GTX 295. Very happy. Bought son Lenovo K210 for first year High School with promise to earn graphics car. He did. Has G31 MB PCIE X16 1.0, but need 2.0. Looking to salvage bad purchase with new MB. Found tittled unit and need feedback please. 5 reviews on NE not enough. Will sport GTS 250 as computer is in a Micro case. The GA-EG45-UD2H appears to have the best slot placement of all PCIE X16 2.0 775 Micros.

    Any Help out there?

PCIE 2.0 is backawards compatible with PCIE 1.0/1.1 meaning a PCIE 2.0 card will work in a PCIE x16 board. Did you know this? If you did and are still looking to buy him a new board, does it need to be Micro ATX?

Not sure what you are really asking, can you please clarify

    Default Ga-eg45m-ud2h ?

    Apologies.
Posted as leaving for work and in context to conversation on my end.

Case will only hold a of 9.5" x 9.5" or smaller motherboard, and current G31 has 1 PCIE X16 1.0 slot.

Was told 2.0 is backwards compatible, but operates at half the bandwidth. Correct me me if this is wrong.

Question then is the GA-EG45M-UD2H my best solution. I really like my UD3R Gigabyte.

Found no reference to performance other than Newegg. Will be giving son a GTS250 VGA and using existing Q6600 CPU for this application.

This MB looks to have best Slot configuration of qualified Micros from it's pictures. Upper PCIE "X1" appears to have clearance below the memory for a full length card. The VGA is a double wide but would still leave lower PCI slot.

    Thanks again.

Yes, your thoughts are correct about PCIE 1.1 vs 2.0 but current PCIE 1.1 cards or 2.0 cards do not even fill the Bus so it would not matter

Now, I am not sure how much that applies to the board you are asking about as I have never used a Micro ATX Board and I do know those chipsets are limited so it may hinder things some but it should not be anything noticeable.

If you must get a Micro, which it sounds like you must unless you buy him a new case as well, then that may be your best solution if the slots meet your requirements

    Smile Re: Ga-eg45-ud2h ?

    Build finished-for now. Q6600-G0, HDT-SD964 w/Crossbow, "GA-EG45M-UD2H", 4GB Corsair 8500 5-5-5-15, WD1002FBYS RE3, PC P&C 500W, SH-S223Q optical, card reader, BFG GTS 250, and F&R 3-spd 120's all in a Cooler Master 341 with Vista 32 Prem SP2.

Vista ratings all bios stock 5.9 except Memory (5.6). Bumped ram Voltage to 2.1 set timming man 4-4-4-12@400 in Std, CPU@3.0 w/muti to 9@333 with final ratio 8 to 6. All else auto/optimized. Now have 5.9's accross with 10 hrs Memtest, 50 passes IBT and 48 hrs Prime95. Idle CPU Temps 20, IBT full load 48 degrees.

No FutureMark yet but the Video Card sings. Hell with the CM-341 I could put in "any" card, with HD in top location. For $40 and a Micro MB,this Case can not be beat.

    Thanks Ya'll.

I would like to reopen this thread. Just replaced memory with 8GB (4x2) Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Quad Kit Desktop Memory Model KHX6400D2LLK4/8G. Posted first time so went in bios and set to 4-4-4-12, 54 tRFC, 2T, 2.1V and 400MHz. Posted several more times after and works fine. Problem is, the control panel recognizes 8GB at settings but says only 3GB available. Everest also sees 8GB at settings. Windows 7-64 Ultimate has been installed since official release with all updates.

Why does it tell me only 3GB available, like it's running a 32 bit OS? Someone help me with this brain fart please.

On my P35 system, Control Panel --> System shows 8GB of memory.
Performance Monitor shows just over 6GB available.
Windows Task Manager's Physical Memory (MB) shows:
    • Total 8190
    • Cached 816
    • Available 6044
    • Free 5285

The System Monitor II gadget shows that 2144MB of ram is in use.
