    Question ep45-ds3r e6400 @ 3.2ghz & 8gb PC6400, vista 64 unstable

    Well I must say what a pleasure its been to find this site and these forums. I have been behind the scenes tweaking my system and following the advice you have given to others but have finally come to a halt. I cant stay stable under a good stress load, leading to BSODs.


    My current setup:
    E6400 @ 3.2ghz - Coolermaster HX2 cpu heatsink\fan
    ep45-DS3R f10
    8GB PC6400 800mhz 5-5-5-12 \ 4 x 2
    Thermal Take 750watt PSU
    ATI Radeon 4850
    2 x Raptor X 150gb 10k - Raid 0

    I am currently running a 1:1 ratio and my running temps are pretty good right now its running at 40c under stress I push to about 54, gameplay is not effected but encoding, etc.. results in a crash.

    CPU Ref .76
    CPU Term 1.2
    CPU PLL 1.5

    Dram 2.0v

    Mch Core 1.32v


    Any input or thoughts are appreciated.

    If you want specific bios suggestions, we need the following:

    1) List your system components in your signature.
    --> User CP tab (upper left corner of web page)
    --> select Edit Signature
    --> enter your hardware components (brand, model, etc.)
    --> include your bios version
    --> preview
    --> Save when complete

    2) Link to your ram's full specifications.

    3) Fill in the generic bios template (below)with your bios settings.
    --> Fill in Auto where appropriate.
    --> Update "??" values with what is displayed in your bios.

    4) Include a screenshot that includes:
    Memset using the SPD and ">>" tabs
    cpu-z main screen
    EasyTune6 --> TUNER tab --> ADVANCE tab --> VOLTAGE tab

    When you manually change a bios setting, replace [Auto] with the new value.
    It helps if you use this format:
    CPU Vcore ---------- x.xxxxx ---- : [Auto] where x.xxxxx is the "normal" value displayed in your bios, and
    CPU Vcore ---------- x.xxxxx ---- : [1.36250] this shows the value you've set

    The "------- x.xxxxx -------" values displayed in the bios are often "normal" or default values. It helps when we see what these settings are even after you've manually changed them.

    With 8GB of ram, you might not be able to run at your ram's rated speed.

    There are several bios settings that are probably hurting you.
    Please repost your settings so that it's clear which settings are still set to AUTO and which settings you've manually changed.

    The requested screenshots wil confirm if some of your settings are the problem.

    Probably.
    8GB of 1066 memory will usually run at 1000MHz or higher.
    With a cpu host frequency of 400MHz or higher, your memory will have to be stable at ddr-800+ speeds. Loosening the primary memory timings (5-5-5-12 in your case) might allow for a stable setup, but you probably won't be able to overclock too much higher.

    If you want, let's see how far we can go with your current setup.
    If your goal is to be stable at 3.2GHz we might be able to reach this with somewhat reduced memory performance.
