    Strange.

At least your problem is solved.

It was unlikely a power issue as the card would be designed to draw what ever a standard 1x connector can supply (30W?).

It would be a good idea at this point to go into the BIOS and hit [F11] to save the BIOS profile. You can try re-loading this profile again if your sound acts up in the same way.

OK, one more random long shot, but have you tried completely removing the soundcard via Device Manager?

If you right click, uninstall and delete the driver if it asks you if you'd like to. Re-boot to alow it to auto detect then re-install the driver.

If it works intermitently there must be some logical solution. Also worth chacking for a good seating in the slot. A few times I've installed cards, and when tightening the single screw that retains it, I've knocked it slightly off centre, presumably resulting in an uneven contact/poor contact on some pins.

I turned it off for around 20 min and turn it on again and it works fine. But if i restarted it it just won't work?

Yeah tried to uninstall it and format the hdd and put fresh install of Vista and tried to reseating it as well and still the same problem.

I've contacted Gigabyte and see what they say. Maybe just my board (hope not....)

Hmm... SO it doesn't mind a cold boot from power off, but a warm boot or reset causes issues. It is strange.

I'd be interested to see what Gigabyte have to say on a possible solution.

If you could post back on the outcome it'd really help any others that may encounter this issue.

Well it doesn't work on any other PCIe slot anymore. So had to turn it off for 5 min and turn it on again and it works?

Still waiting reply back from Gigabyte.

Does anybody use sound card on this board?

Hmm, odd that it works and then does not. Have you tried the latest drivers? Of course you have eh.......

Ya, I do know people use sound cards on these boards.

Do you have Init First Display in the advanced BIOS page set to PEG 1 (or PEG if no #1 is listed)? If not set that and try the second PCIE Slot again and see if that helps any. Also be sure you disable Azalia in the Integrated Peripherals Page

    I know it's weird.

I haven't set to PEG 1. AT the moment i think only set to PCI (default). But i disabled Azalia already.

I borrow another sound card (cheap ones) just to test but only PCI not PCIe not sure if it worth it as well.

Gigabyte replied and said to RMA and when i phone the place i got it from they said that i better try it with different sound card and see first or maybe not compatible with my sound card? I thought all board these days always compatible with anything, especially big name like Gigabyte. Because if they test it and it works, they will charge me 35?

I'll see what i can do tonite.

    Thanks
