Default GA-EX58-UD4P MB B3 SLGMX stepping

Can anyone confirm when the GA-EX58-UD4P will begin shipping with the B3 SLGMX chipset?

Since the chip is under a heat sink and you can't look at it, is there any labeling on the box that identifies which stepping is inside or revision markings on the mother board that identify the stepping version?

Is that a new stepping of the X58? Any significant changes? I have a EX58-UD4P now so just curious :)

Dunno how much it will help with overclocking since the northbridge plays a much smaller role nowadays with on-chip memory controller...

There was a benchmark test recently between the I7-920 and the top Phenom. The I7 won all but the game FEAR where the Phemon was at 200+ fps and the I7 was down at 57 or so. The huge discrepancy was explained by Intel as a USB bug of some sort. They didn't specify if the bug was in the CPU or the X58 chipset. I'm hoping that between the DO stepping and the B3 stepping these issues will be resolved. you can look at the errata reports for both parts hereCPU http://download.intel.com/design/pro.../320836.pdfX58 http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/specupdate/320839.pdf

There is no way to tell from the Boxes, you will just have to wait until you know they are out and the store you buy from has brand new stock

As mentioned above those PDF's do have the chip markings noted in them, so with the chick/board in hand you can tell that way. You of course can also tell by running CPU-z on a board and look in the mainboard tab and chipset revision is noted

CPU-Z says X58 revision 12, how does that correspond to B2/B3 etc?

    Hi,

    rev 12 is B2.

My X58-UD5 has the same revision.
