    Default new build with ep45-ud3p

My sig is what i am building, the only ? i have is if i should go with a different 8 gigs of ram since i know that there is no way that i will be able to run wht i am planning on getting at its full specs,so i was thinking if that ram would not be good then i was going to go with either the mushkin ddr2 1000 pc2 8000 red line 996593 or the mushkin ddr2 1066 pc2 8500 996599, any suggestions would be helpfull before i buy.

    Thanks!

    A forum search using:
    8gb 4x2gb memory
turned up quite a few threads.

Quality 1066 speed memory should run at 1000MHz speeds or higher.
While the Mushkin Redlines are excellent, with 8GB you might have to run them at somewhat lower speeds than with 1066 memory.

With different memory brands, some have had better luck than others who used had the same setup. Read the appropriate threads to get an idea of which memory brand/model has the greatest success rate.

Wherever you buy your memory, verify beforehand if they have a liberal return policy and will allow you swap your memory for a different brand if you're not successful.

I'm partial to Mushkin memory for many reasons, but I've seen mixed results with all brands and/or models of memory.

Yeh people do seem to be able to get more pc performance with 4 gigs instead of 8(from the threads)^.
The gskill memory you mention,is that the matched set of 4 sticks?
4 sticks that have been tested together are better than buying 2 sets of matched pairs.
Also if you have any problems you wont get any "we dont guarantee that 4 sticks will work together" replies from the manufacturers.
The V8 is good..reasonably quiet unless stress testing and seems to do the job well.

I would suggest you either get 8GB of Redline 1000Mhz or 8GB of the Black XP 800Mhz if you want to run 8GB for sure and want to get Mushkins. The XP Sets will run 1000 as well so if you can save some cash that way and like black or do not like red they will both run just the same

ok i think i will go with the red line, do you think that i will be able to get it to run at close to 1000 with all 8 gigs in or is 900 or so going to be the best that i do?

Your best bet is to check out the Mushkin forum or post a question. There won't be any guarantees with 8GB. Even with identical hardware setups, no 2 users are guaranteed to get the same results.

If you're limited to 900MHz memory speeds, you'll still be able to clock your cpu to 8.5 x 450MHz = 3.825GHz. Running with 2x2GB Redlines, your memory should easily overclock to 1066 memory speeds.
