    Default q6600 3.4ghz (425x8) help

    ok so i was going for 3.6ghz but i think its a little too much right now

    here are my settings for 3.4ghz (425x8) on an ep45 ds3l mobo

    in prime 95 one core fails with 2-3 minutes. and says fatal error 0.5 was expecting 0.4 or something like that

    From my testing (and i'v done a lot Q6600, E5200, E8500) the MCH reference plays a massive role in getting a stable overclock, for me it is the difference between not posting and being stable. It seems to work best for me if it is set to 0.926v (if VTT is 1.4v like yours). If that works try lowering the VTT back down to 1.3v or below, I only need 1.22v for 425FSB, but I have a golden chip. I know i'm using a UD3P/R, but yours is also a P45 chipset with very similar settings to mine.

    should i also try reducing cpu vcore and cpu termination and raise cpu reference?

    First off see if you can get it stable with those settings (but change the MCH Reference). Then save those settings into the BIOS, then try lowering Vcore, PLL and VTT while still remaining stable.

    when your talking about your 1.22 were you talking about your cpu vtt or fsb vtt cause i dont see any setting for fsb termination

    I was talking about the VTT, CPU Termination is the same as FSB Termination as far as I know. Some mobo manufactures call it CPU Termination, some say FSB.

    ok so i tried what you suggested and i lasted a bit longer in prime 95 but core 0 still fails at 8 minutes instead of 2 minutes. what settings do you suggest?

    Hmm, since it worked a little better, try increase the MCH reference and if that doesn't work try decreasing it. Also u can try a MCH clock skew of 50ps.

    Well two things I would suggest, yes you using the incorrect MAIN timings for your ram can cause those errors. Your ram is only rated/tested to work at 566-18 meaning it is made from cheaper chips, so if you want to use 555-18 you will have to push more voltages thru it and even then that may or may not work. I'd suggest you use the correct timings for now.

    I also suggest you use less MCH voltage, you should not need that much for only 425 FSB and 4GB of ram, try 1.22-1.26

    ah ok lsd i will change the timings back to normal. do you thihnk i could lower the cpu vcore and termination then?
