    Default Overclocking E7300 on GA-EP45-UD3R (REV 1.0)

    Processor: E7300 M0 Stepping
    Ram: 4GB DDR2 800Mhz @ 5-5-5-18 (Rated 2.0V according to the sticker)

    Im trying to get to 9*400FSB => 3.6Ghz. I just don't know what setting should I tweak or not and what voltage is related to other. This is the current mini overclock I tried, which is stable in Intel Burn test

    I This is based off Easy Tune 6. For some reason some voltage reported are different from bios

    what are the other components .cooler/exact ram type etc.

    There were a few 7300 posts a couple of months back ,if you scan back.
    Lsd /someone else may have a good 7300 profile stored.
    Intel burn test sounds scary ,but my experience of it is that it just gets your cpu really hot and i seem to be able to get it to work ok at speeds that other programs like prime 95 and occt give errors on.
    You seem to have the ref voltages set ok from lsds guide but at that speed most things should be fine.
    I dont use easy tune 6..personal preference.
    Keep vTT cpu termination below cpu core, pll may need to be increased.
    did you find you needed to increase mch core for the small o/c or just gave it a few .01 volts
    The general recommendation on the dram ref voltages is to keep them at 50% or less of what you put in for dram voltage.
    Its down to the 2 options :
    1.see what memory speed you can get while keeping the cpu speed down and mch voltage low.
    2.see what cpu speed you can get using the cpu multipliers while keeping cpu ref speed and hence memory speed low.

    Then find the best combination , if your looking for 3.6 at 400 mhz (x9) least stressful way is to underclock the memory as you bring the cpu ref speed up from 333mhz.
    that would be using either the 2:00B or 2:00D ram multiplier etc.

    Generally, how much mch and vtt increase needed in order to get me to 400FSB? what else should I touch? I know that the vcore is pretty much a variable that I have to try out. Other than that, my cooler is Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, Ram is OCZ PC6400 @ 4-4-4-15 @ 2.2V (but I think it is better to start at relaxed timing of 5-5-5-18 @ 2.0V ..what do you think.

    I searched the past posts and some of the settings dont work for me.

    I've done a load of research on clocking an E7xxx, specifically the E7300, As I bought one off eBay. It arived yesterday, but was DOA, completely non functioning, so I'll have to wait till I spot another one, and the person I bought it off refunds me. Their fault for packing a bare chip in bubble wrap.

    I was hoping to get at least 3.8GHz from mine, maybe more. They're a pretty easy overclock, being a default 266 FSB chip, they have decent multipliers.

    Your chip has a multiplier of 10, so try that first. You may need to add some more Vcore to get 3.33GHz, but not much.

    For 3.6GHz, I would have tried this as a first attempt, then if it were stable, I'd have lowered Vcore a little:

    I've advised you set reference volts all to auto. I can't see 3.6 being much of a problem with them at default levels. Also set your RAM to its rated 2.2V. It can handle it, and is in warranty up to 2.25V. You can always try lowering it after you finish overclocking.

    OK the above settings listed cannot boot, I tried slightly higher vcore, not really effective there. Also, 2 questions:

    1) why alot templates do not increase the CPU PLL(yours +0.07V) and ICH core (yours +0.1V)

    2) can we just set the standard timing control to the ones shown on the sticker (4-4-4-15) and not worry about the advanced timing.?

    I've now got an E7200 on the way to me, which will hopefully be working, so I should have some experience under my belt by next week.

    I'll post my findings.

    For now, you could try increasing Static tRead. Did you try 7 and 8? Did you also make sure to change both channels and to the same number? Also try Driving Strength on both channels at 1066.

    You can try with all advanced timings except tRead on auto and see if it will boot. And yes, change your primary timings to 4-4-4-15. Didn't spot it. OCZ seem to use wierd timings for their RAM... 4-4-4-15, 5-6-6-18 etc, sounds like they're trying to push lower speed modules as fast as they will go to make max profit.

    Yoou can of course try PLL at stock if you wish. It's also fine up to 1.650V. I say to raise it, because it helped me stablise my system. I don't get over 3.2GHz at all without it on 1.610V. I give Ich core a bump because for some reason I get USB problems at 1.10V and 486 FSB. That stops it.

    After you try all that, just as an experiment, try Vcore at the same 1.35V but with LLC (Load Line Calibration) on.

    Considering C0 stepping E8xxx series sometimes struggle to hit 3.8-4GHz, I think 3.6GHz on an E7400 is pretty good. Especially on air!

    This setting still doesnt allow me to boot windows. I was thinking this is already 1.0V over the setting I used to get to 3.0GHz. What do you think went wrong? Any suggestions
