    Default ep45-ds3r rebooting

    Hi!

My system keeps rebooting. I suppose I have to adjust some settings in the bios, but I cannot find exactly what I should do. I have tried to use only one memory, it runs longer but still reboots. Sometimes it doesn't even make it onto the post/bios, and keeps rebooting repeatedly.

I see this is a FAQ, but every answer I find is specific to some system, I cannot find an explanation of how to find out which should be the settings in another system.

    ep45-ds3r
    core 2 duo e8400
    mem 2 x kvr800d2n6/2g

    thanks,

    Tiago.

Are you running at stock CPU Speeds? What BIOS are you using?

If you are these settings should get you going, if you still have issues can you please post me an image of [url=http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php]CPU-z[url] SPD Tab. >>

Yes, and I do not want to do any overclocking.

    What BIOS are you using?
I am not in face of the computer right now, and I don't remember which revision I have.

EDIT: I know I have updated the bios when I first built the computer, because I was having this same issue. And it made no difference.

If you are these settings should get you going, if you still have issues can you please post me an image of [url=http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php]CPU-z[url] SPD Tab. >>
Problem 1 is: I can't even make it onto the bios, or onto the post screen. The last good config worked for more than a month, and then it started to reboot continually upon switching on.

And the following day it worked again. Then it rebooted one hour later, and kept rebooting. I started to fiddle with bios settings, and it worked, not worked, and worked, and not worked. The last thing I did was revert everything to optimized defaults and set just the MCH core to 1.3. It worked for half an hour, and than rebooted, and now it shuts down before the post screen. Than I tried to replace the 2gb memory with a 512mb one, but with the same results. After I came back to the 2gb, I could once reach the bios config, where I was told that some overclocking settings had caused the system to fail to boot, and that the values I saw where not the real values... I have not understood what it meant, and while I was reading it, the computer rebooted again...

It have worked for the past days every now and then, and if I am lucky, I can have an hour of work, and then I'll try your settings.

Problem 2 is: I do not use windows, so I can't run this piece of software.

Problem 3 is: I will be out of town from sunday for two weeks. I will try to make it work before I leave, because my mom really needs it. But I am not sure I will have the time...

Anyway, I'll try to try your settings asap, thanks.

    Tiago Saboga.
