Intel Stock Cooler at the moment.

Operates at around 37c at the moment.

Not place to much stress on it at this time.

Any suggestions in regards to decent coolers. In the past I have had a few zalmans.

I have tried changing the MCH Volts to 2.1, still no luck.

I sort of think leave it at 800MHz, it works, its fast and I never amd going to notice it or what I generally do.

Just a last question, as the SPD details from CPU-Z do not display 533MHz, does this mean RAM is not capable or do the manafactures hide the higher speeds??

    Thanks

    Is 2.1 volts a typo?

At stock cpu speeds, the Intel heat sink/fan is adequate. Buying a good middle tier aftermarket cooler and fan would reduce temperatures, but this is only needed when you're doing higher overclocks.

Your memory performance can probably improved a bit, but this will require stress testing to ensure that your system is stable with tighter memory timings. It's unlikely that you'd notice this improvement.

The SPD values are pre-programmed by the memory manufacturer and represent safe default values for given memory speeds. Kingston rates your memory at 1066 speeds, but your value ram won't run them as easily as high performance memory will. Nagonsa has the same (or similar) ram and he is able to run his memory at 1066 speeds with his more expensive motherboard.

Your system can probably run at 1000 - 1066 memory speeds, but it will take more work to get there.

Enjoy your new setup, I'm sure that it's a huge step from your previous system.
In the future, if you want to do a modest overclock to 11 x 300MHz = 3.3GHz, your memory should be able to run at 1000MHz. You would still be able to use your stock Intel cooler.

    Hi
    This is my configuration:
    GA-EP45-DS3L
    Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 1066MHz/PC2-8500 HyperX Memory CL5 2.2V (KHX8500D2K2_4G)
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.66GHz Socket 775 1066MHz 8MB

just on the side note i got a rear case fan and im using Arctic Cooling AC-FRZ-7P Freezer 7 Pro

so I've got the exact same problem. Can someone suggest configuration including MCH because I believe this is what I'm missing on
I dont even run memtest86 because the box either doesnt boot or freezes straight away in Windows 7
With one dimm it works stable ...
    my bios is F10

    Regards

Not a very good idea to do it in this thread. Create one of your own, post a template with your settings, a screean capture of MemSet main and SPD windows, EasyTune advanced votage window and CPU-Z CPU.

    @gie

You'll get more help if you create a new thread because you're using a different mobo and ram.

To get you started, follow the basic settings in this post and follow steps 1 -4.
We can better help you if you include your hardware list in your forum signature (step #1 in the post).
With the basic settings in the post, your system might run your memory a 800MHz, don't worry about this for now.

Use this generic bios template to post your bios settings and we'll help you get everything running optimally.
    Code:
    Motherboard: Model, Rev#:
    Bios version: F??
    Cpu: Model
Ram: Brand, Model/Part#, Link to your ram's specs
Power Supply Unit: Brand, Model#, Wattage

Default settings for new setups that are not overclocked.

note: replace all ?? with the value displayed in your bios.
----> where appropriate replace Auto settings with manually set values

Skookumpost, did you finally manage to get you GA-EP45-UD3LR and HyperX running at 1066 Mhz.

I have the same motherboard and memory and cant get it to work at 1066MHz at 5-5-5-15 at 2.1 or 2.2V.

Even at stock CPU speed, I have a Q9400 at 2.66 GHz, FSB 333.

If you have it working I would like your settings to replicate on mine.

I have searched many forums but just dont seem to find anyone who is running the Kingston HyperX at 1066MHz.

    Many Thanks

    @aussieoc
If you're using cpu host frequency = 333MHz, try using the 3.00A memory multiplier for 1000MHz memory speeds.
You can probably use tighter memory timings at 1000MHz for performance that will equal or surpass 1066 speeds.
It's possible that some of your other bios settings are causing the problem.

To best help you, we need a complete hardware list in your forum signature and for you to post your current bios template.
This post will help you provide the information.

    ProfJim,

I have now updated my hardware spec with my signature. I run Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate.

I am keen to get speeds above the current 800MHz at 5-5-5-18 at 1.8V.

Any help that you can provide to get me closer to 1000MHz at tighter timings will be very helpful.

    Many Thanks

Follow steps 3 & 4 (in the linked post in post #28) to show us your current bios settings and screen shot (step 4).
Copy this bios template into a plain text editing program (Notepad), enter your current bios settings, then copy and paste your bios settings into your next post. You can also attach your saved screen-shot (from step 4) to the same post.

Be sure to accurately fill in all your bios settings, replacing any AUTO settings with your current settings.
