    Default F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK and GA-EP45-UD3P

    OK have 8mgs of ram Gskill(F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK)(4x2)and GA-EP45-UD3P v1.1 mobo with f9 bios. Have it pretty much stable(ran prime for 24 hours). Want to know if there are other settings to get the best performance @ 1066 speed. I have a Q9650 running stock @ 3.0ghz. Don't plan to overclock. Just want the mem to run the best it can. Here is my template. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to this so if I left out anything, please ask.

    What a waste of a Q9650. The first Core 2 Quad based on the same revised fab process as the E0E8xx series. It'd probably do at least 3.6GHz on stock voltage, and go up to around 4GHz-4.3GHz.

    Oh well, no over clocking it is.

    To improve performance, all you're really left with is tightening up Advanced Timings. Set them from auto, to the values that appear to the left of auto in the BIOS. It will most likely be 4-4-8-68-4. Lower them to 3-3-6-52-3 and run Prime95 for as long as you're happy with. I'd personally run Large FFT for at least 8 hours, to verify stability. If you come out OK, you can then procede to lower these timings again, until you're happy or until the point of instability. If you become unstable raise them again. After the initial lowering to 3-3--6-52-3, I would lower one value at a time, testing for stability after each one.

    Can you boot with a tRead of 5 rather than 6? I doubt you could but it's worth trying if you haven't already.

    If I were you I'd set FSB to 400, multi to 9, Divider to either 400MHZ latch @ 2.66 or 200MHz latch @ 2.66 and bask in the glory of running stable at 3.6GHz, without touching Vcore. But then it's not my chip, so you can do what you want, none of my bees wax.

    ok. tried for a while to get to 3.6. I was using Everest to benchmark my mem. Seemed like it wouldn't boot with FSB @ 400. Found out it was the mem timings. So in Everest I saw the timings for the mem @ 400 which are: Rc=24 Rfc=51 Rrd=3 Wr=6 Wtr=3 Rtp=3 So I set to them and she booted at 3.6 and is stable enough to boot and me write this. It says Rc =24 how Changed to 400mhz @ 2.66. do you set that? On the tread of 5, couldn't boot it at 333. Now its set to 5 and it won't boot. set to 7 and boots fine . But I noticed after I used the benchmarks in Everest, That my mem read score is lower than at 333/1066.


    EDIT** Set tread to 7 and retest benchmarks....This smokes now!! I will run memtest86+ and see whats up. Any idea on how long or number of passes is good? Thank You so much for your help!! will update after testing with memtest

    OK. Ran 6 hours of Memtest86+ and no errors!! Timings are set 3-3-6-51-3. Overclocked chip to 3.6 as well. Thank you for your help Psycho!! This thing is FLYIN!!!

    No problem.

    I'd recommend you download Prime95 and run Blend over night, at least 8 hours, 12-14 is better.

    Memtest will pick up extreme cases of instability, but misses subtle problems that can only become apparent in an operating system environment.

    ok got big problems. Ran Prime....no og. Now system is VERY unstable. One thing I noticed is ram will not run at 400. It keeps showing as 533. I think that may be the problem. How can I get it to run @ 400? No problems with FSB doing 400 but mem won't!!!

    It shouldn't be a problem running your RAM at 533. 533*2 = DDR-1066 = PC2-8500.

    If you want to try a Prime run with RAM at DDR-800, set System Memory Multiplier to 2.00D, that will slow it down to DDR-800.

    If you have 2 x 2GB of RAM try setting MCH core to 1.200V, 1.05 is low.

    ok got it to run at 5.33 @1066. But when I jump up the FSB to 400 so I can get 3.6 on the cpu, the mem settings go to 12??. I set it for 1066 but it keeps doing it. WTF??? I'm starting to think this mem is a POS!!! F*&%! 1 step forward...4 backward...
