    Well, how do I figure the temperatures then? There are about 500 different settings too.

    Is there even a way to tell what is each voltage currently set to? I don't even understand what 90% of them mean.

    Oh and the blue plates on the mosfets and NB - I tried to remove them, but they won't let go even with brutal force. I gave up because I feared I'd damage the board if I try more. This was when they were warm btw.

    You have to get your nails under them and pull from one end. They're on quite firm, but mine were pretty easy to get off still. As long as you hold the heatsink to stop it moving too much while you take them off, you'll be fine. Maybe if you still can't get them off, you could temove the NB and top MOSFET sink from the b oard and then take them off. You'll have to clean the NB and sink after and apply some fresh TIM though.

    Post your exact BIOS settings in the following template. Also include a screenshot of Easy Tune 6 (comes with your mobo on the bundled CD). Go to the advanced menue and click the voltages tab. This will let us see what everything is set at even if the board is on auto.

    Hell, there's no way I'd write all of that down on paper from the BIOS :D
    Btw I finally managed to get those bloody "windshields" off. It didn't help much though.
    But, at least in idle the NB heatsink is only warm.

    I played around some settings today, but after completely weird and half random freezes or BSODs I decided to quit all overclocking attems because I use Windows 7 beta and since it is still unfinished and potentially unstable (you never know), there's no point in going through all this.
    I will settle down at currently stable 450x7.5, default values. I wanted to hunt the magical 500, but screw it :)

    edit: is there any explanation for all of these settings? The manual, as usual, doesn't say anything useful.

    Well if you're not willing to supply your BIOS template, there's no way to know what voltages you're running. You could very well be over volting your board into oblivion, with that being the reason for your high NB temps. Print the template and just write next to it. It should take no more than 2-3 minutes.

    Most of the voltages are explained in the stickies at the top of the forum. You might have to skim through the posts before you get all of the definitions. There is also a thread on what MCH Ref and CPU Ref mean and how to set them correctly, as they scale up with CPU Termination.

    Nothing wrong with OCing on Windows 7 BTW. I've used it exclusively since build 7000. It's as stable as Vista, if not more so.

    Oh.
    And btw I wasn't running on auto values at all since yesterday.
    I actually copied values from some thread I can't find anymore, a dude posted several full configurations for various FSB vs multiplier combinations. I took the 8x500 one.
    And btw I don't have a printer :D

    Anyway. I set everything to normal, which is the default values, except for VCORE, that sits at 1.3V. In idle, the NB is reasonably warm (can keep hand on it for several seconds). When I run Prime95 though, I could fry an egg on the heatsink (some kind of temperature increase is to be expected of course).

    I realize the the OP already removed the blue plate, but I actually had a difficult time removing my NB blue faceplate off off box 1. Even after using a hair drier to soften up the NB hs and its adhesive, I had to use a couple of slot head screw drivers to wedge between the plate and the fins underneath and carefully apply offsetting force so as to remove the plate with counterforce on the fins.

    Bios settings are needed OP and as Psycho said, just print the sheet out and fill in the blanks when you in the bios settings.

    Windows 7RC has been installed on two of my computers and they are very stable, so I wouldn't let it deter you from oc'ing your computer with that OS.

    indeed. Do take the time to write down your BIOS settings in the back of the manual. If you ever have to flash the BIOS or clear CMOS all your profiles will be lost. You can of course save to a USB drive but restoring a profile from a previous BIOS version isn't recommended.

    As a general rule, You should be 500FSB stable on 1.34V or less, probably ok at arount 1.26-1.3 depending on how much RAM is used, with the higher settings maybe needed for 8GB.

    The following template is pretty much what your BIOS should look like. Better to set values manually to their values indicated on the left tan have them set as Normal. Note that the entries for CPU Ref and MCH Ref must be set by first changing CPU Termination to 1.200V. When you've entered both CPU and MCH Ref values, increase CPU Termination back up. You don't say what make of RAM you have, so just use the 400 strap and the multiplier that gets you closest to the RAm's rated speed (I'm guessing DDR-1066):

    Ok let me see. This is what my BIOS is currently set up. It is the last beta F9l I think - from the latest BIOS thread.

    I guess I could say I have 2x2GB Corsair Dominator XMS2-8500C5D memory and they rock!
    The ultimate goal is 500MHz FSB and whatever the CPU can do at default voltage (or close to it as I assume I gotta pump a bit more in it because of the FSB frequency).

    What's the Loadline calibration setting? I clearly remember Lsd saying elsewhere to keep it disabled.
