    Default Help please anyone

To anyone that has the time to help it will be greatly appreciate, I love this forum and it has helped me with countless newb questions already!

I just got my Cpu cooler and and extra 6 gigs of ram, I'm trying to OC 3.5-3.8GHZ on my core i7 920 processor and was wondering if anyone could help me on my settings in bios to try out to get to a 3.5-3.8 stable OC. Thanks in advance!

    Here are my Specs

    F8 BIOS for GA-EX58-UD4P
    6x 2GB=12GB G.Skill DDR3 1600 Model F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ
    Zalman CNPS9900LED 120mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler
Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM

Here are some settings you may want to try -> adapted from LSDMEASAP :)

    Code:
    Advanced CPU Features:
    CPU Clock Ratio ................................ [20x]
Intel(R) Turbo Boost Tech .................. [Enabled]
    CPU Cores Enabled ............................ [All]
    CPU Multi Threading .......................... [Enabled]
CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) ................... [Enabled]
    C3/C6/C7 State Support .................... [Disabled]
    CPU Thermal Monitor ......................... [Enabled]
    CPU EIST Function ............................ [Enabled]
    Virtualization Technology ................... [Enabled]
    Bi-Directional PROCHOT ..................... [Enabled]

    Uncore & QPI Features:
    QPI Link Speed .............................. x36
    Uncore Frequency .......................... 16-17(Always 2x memory Multi or 2x +1)
    Isonchronous Frequency ..................[Enabled]

    Standard Clock Control:
Base Clock (BCLK) Control ................ [Enabled]
    BCLK Frequency (MHz) .....................183
PCI Express Frequency (MHz) ........... [100]

    C.I.A.2 [Disabled]

    Advanced Clock Control:
    CPU Clock Drive ..............................[800mV]
PCI Express Clock Drive ................... [900mV]
    CPU Clock Skew ............................. [0ps]
    IOH Clock Skew ............................. [0ps]

    Advanced DRAM Features:
    Performance Enhance ...................... [Standard]
Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P) ......... [Disabled]
    System Memory Multiplier (SPD) ........ [8.0] = 1464Mhz
DRAM Timing Selectable (SPD) .......... [Quick]

    Channel A + B + C

    Channel A Timing Settings:
    ##Channel A Standard Timing Control##
    CAS Latency Time ......................9
    tRCD .......................................9
    tRP .........................................9
    tRAS .......................................24

    Advanced Voltage Control:

    CPU
    Load Line Calibration ................. [Disabled]
CPU Vcore ...............................1.3-1.4 All up to your CPU (Start with 1.3 and see if that will boot or error, if it boots good, if not add some more BSOD 0x00000101 is not enough Vcore)

QPI/VTT Voltage 1.150v ............ 1.2-1.3 Again all up to your CPU.

    DRAM
DRAM Voltage 1.500v ..............1.60-1.62 (Your ram is rated at 1.5-1.6v)
    DRAM Termination 0.750v [AUTO]
    Ch-A Data VRef. 0.750v [AUTO]
    Ch-B Data VRef. 0.750v [AUTO]
    Ch-C Data VRef. 0.750v [AUTO]
    Ch-A Address VRef. 0.750v [AUTO]
    Ch-B Address VRef. 0.750v [AUTO]
    Ch-C Address VRef. 0.750v [AUTO]
As you can see the voltages for CPU Vcore, QPI/VTT, and DRAM you will have to experiment with. Start with the lower values first and work your way up until its stable.

Also what stepping of the i7 920 do you have? C0/C1 or D0? That will lower some of the voltage ranges for CPU Vcore and QPI PLL.

Also make sure you stress test your computer after you think you have it stable. I reccommend running Prime95 blend mode and Intel Burn Test concurrently and running for 12+ hours. Usually if its unstable it will tell you LONG before that by crashing or one of the tests reporting an error. Stability testing is still not a science, people will reccomend a million different things but that works for me.

Then the ranges I posted last time should be okay. Tell us what happens.
