    Hello again lsdmeasap :) from last night i managed to hit 4GHz but vcore was too high it requires 1,55625volt ... is that normal? i only test with Intel Burn Test 10loops and memtest, not yet prime... my purpose is for benchmarking only and not for daily so i guess i dont need for long term test, right?? here SS :

    I think vcore is too high only that high can manages for stability in IBT, i also ran prime for 1 hour with no error and max temp with real temp is 69c.

    Mr. lsdmeasap, i wanna ask:
    1.When do i need to raise CPU clock skew?
    2.I found that in FSB500 and ram running in 1000mhz needs add 1 step in MCH reference, my question is how much do i need to add? 1 step added is ok but is it ok for added 2 step or more??.........from above my setting i set vtt default (1,2v) and mch reference default (0.76) also cpu reference default (0.76) then i add cpu reference 1 step (0.785) and mch reference 1 step (0.800) then i raise vtt to 1.38volt so cpu & mch reference also raise automatically.
    Btw before i added mch reference, i always get error in memtest just like i said before in myposting but when i added mch reference 1 step it works perfectly in memtest :) i guess its not my ram's fault hehe i just an amatir overclocker ^_^

    Your images are fine!

    If you only plan to use that much volts for short periods benching for high scores then you should be fine, but I wouldn't use it for long periods.

    CPU Skew can help with super high FSB, like 500-550, it's just something you have to tinker with there is no rules or expectations on when to use it.

    MCH ref can be any amount you need, more or less is fine.

    Btw i wanna ask about Q9400 3.6ghz :
    in myprevious posting i managed to speed 3.6ghz with 20loops intel burn test (vcore 1.35volt) but only with standard level which is 1024MB ram used... i tested again last night with almost maximum stress level (max stress level about 3150MB) i use custom 3000MB and worked perfectly 20loops but need vcore 1.3625volt. Now which value of vcore do i should use? 1.35v is ok for daily computing but didnot pass 20loop IBT with almost maximum stress level.

    Did you check out Kick's bios settings?
    Many of us are using 2.00D with tRD = 9 in the upper 400MHz to the lower 500MHz range.
    MCH Ref probably needs to raised 1 or 2 steps higher.

    You'll probably do better if you can get your system fully stable at 480 - 490MHz and go higher in small increments.

    Did your system pass all stability tests when you were at 3.80GHz? If yes, which tests were run and for how long?

    With a Q9550, getting to 4.0GHz takes a bit of work. With your Q9400, it's not realistic to try to jump from 3.6 or 3.8GHz to 4.0GHx. Larger FSB jumps are much easier with lower FSB settings, but it gets much more difficult to make the same percentage jumps, especially as your approaching your system's limits.

    Q9400 at 4.0GHz is pretty rare.

    Have you used OCCT's logging and graphing capability to see how stable your various voltages are?

    I tried trD 9 but cannot boot to desktop so i just let it auto, but that before i change/add MCH reference.... i'll try later prof Jim.
    Yup please take alook myprevisious posting in this scaby thread, i manage to hit 3.8ghz with 1.43125v tested 10loops by Intel burn test.... i only have SS 3.6ghz with tested by IBT and monitoring volts + temps by CPUID HWmonitor.... i think voltages are stabil, here SS 3.8ghz 10loops IBT passed with standard stress level :

    Passing IBT does not mean that your system is fully stable.
    I've passed IBT or LinX tests many times, only to have Prime95 or OCCT fail, sometimes in minutes, but usually after several hours, and sometimes errors don't appear until after 8 - 15 hours or more.
    I've seen many threads where one or two of the Prime95/OCCT tests pass for over 24 hours, only to have the last test fail.

    I like the output graphs that OCCT generates because the information in the upper text portion shows maximum voltage variation down to 1/100 of a volt. Your pushing your system awfully hard and it's possible that you psu and mobo voltage regulation aren't good enough. Look at the 3rd line of small print in the OCCT chart and you will see the amount of voltage variation ("ripple") and the maximum percentage. OCCT can be configured to generate several different voltage and/or temperature charts each time a test is run. OCCT's result are only as accurate as the monitoring motherboard chip.

    I always run my Prime95 tests after successfully completing 10 IBT or LinX loops with maximum stress levels. OCCT is an excellent additional test, especially the PSU test where linpack and a Furmark like test are run simultaneously.Attachment 2654

    If you only had CPU multi of 9 that would be much better, the high voltage needed is due to the 500 FSB

    Thx for explanations prof jim :) btw i only use daily overclocked procie in 3.6ghz with vcore 1.36v for safety and long life.... above that i only use for benchmark and ofcourse i dont use it for daily.... so i just aim stability for short period like IBT 10loops with standar level and prime 2 hours small ffts level. Sorry i forgot to uploda OCCT test with graphic's result.... i will test for 3.6ghz, before that i never use OCCT, should i test it with setting like urs in SS prof jim? normal level 15 minutes? then i try to test 4ghz too... but in prime 4ghz hit 70c in Realtemp sensor, is it safe when use OCCT??

    Btw i tried last night in FSB 525 and temp was too hot just a few second in prime temp was 80c then i stopped test ... i just curios in FSB 525 (4.2ghz), here my voltages but only stabil with SuperPI 32M :
