Default Gigabyte Boards and Patriot Memory

Does anyone know if the issues described in this review at the bottom of the page have bene resolved?

    Patriot Memory Viper Series PVT36G1600LLK

Unfortunately I own this ram/mb combination and neither patriot nor gigabyte have been very helpful in resolving my situation. That basically being the ram will not run at its rated spec on the gigabyte boards. I have been in contact with patriot and gigabyte, with patriot referring me to gigabyte for a solution, gigabyte advising I buy different ram.

Patriot Support posted this on neweggs reviews

    "Manufacturer Response:Greetings,

We are aware of the issue that you are dealing with as far as our Tri Channel RAM and the Giga Byte boards. We are working with Giga Byte to get this issue corrected. Our Tri Channel RAM runs with out issue on other manufacturer's boards.

Please contact Giga Byte for a BIOS update to help correct this issue.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Support Department: support@patriotmem.com

Thank you for chooing Patriot Memory!

    Daniel Sorrentino
    Patriot Memory Support"

I contacted gigabyte last night, and the recommended fix was using a different brand of ram, which I replied that the patriot memory is listed as supported on their spec sheet for the mb i have.

Basically I just want to get the performance I paid for, but have yet to succeed at that.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

From the ClubOverclocker review, "Once again Patriot Memory has a great product that is extremely stable with loads of overclocking headroom."

From my experience Gigabyte has serious issues with many types of memory across product lines. I have a GA-EP45-UD3R. Had trouble with 3 pairs of perfectly good memory from different suppliers. Gigabyte's support response, "sounds like you need to try different memory."
It is rather obvious that Gigabytes key engineers are working on new product releases and that too many issues with shipping product appear to be handed off to sustaining engineers that can't decipher their crappy spaghetti code.
Oh and I still don't have my rebate after close to 5 months...

Gigabyte has certainly been less responsive on the support end of things.

Bit frustrating when they have a supported mem list, yet when something on that list doesn't work as it's supposed to the recommendation is to buy different ram.

I agree with you. They should allow you to return the product at no charge to you. Where did you purchase the board? Did Patriot send you a list of what boards that memory will work on?

I was using this list from gigabyte to help decide what memory to buy.

    http://www.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memo...-ex58-ud4p.pdf

Its the supported mem list for my board. The mem/board are from newegg, purchased around feb. I've been looking and trying and hoping for a bios update etc since then. There do seem to be several other people who are having this same issue, and Patriot has acknowledged it as a problem, but I haven't been able to find any information anywhere from gigabyte acknowledging there is a problem between these two parts, or a fix is being worked on, or they will never work together and I just need to give up.

Yes I saw that earlier. 3 pcs. tripple channel.
    Notes:

According to Intel spec definition that XMP DIMMs and DDR3-1600 above are supported for one DIMM per channel only
    (Nore2)
When enabling Dual Channel mode with 2 memory modules, be sure to install them in the DDR3_1 and DDR3_3 sockets
    (Note3)
When enabling 3 Channel mode with 3 memory modules, be sure to install them in the DDR3_1, DDR3_3 and DDR3_5 sockets
When enabling 3 Channel mode with 4 memory modules, be sure to install them in the DDR3_1, DDR3_2, DDR3_3 and DDR3_5 sockets
How many pcs. are you trying to use?

I would contact Newegg and explain this to them. They are really good to there customers about such issues. Speak with there customer Care 1-866-528-3733 and show them your letters and this site. Order another brand.
