Setting auto may be seriously over volting your CPU. It's key to have CPU Term, PLL, Vcore and DRAM voltage set manually.

Run a copy of CPU-Z. What does it show on the main page as "Revision"? if it's E0, you should hit 4GHz pretty easy. If it shows C0/C1 you may have a tougher time of it. Also it would be useful to know what |CPU cooler you're using. I wouldn't recommend your current overclock, let alone 4GHz on the stock Intel cooler.

Also download a copy of RealTemp, and a copy of Prime95. Run Prime Large FFT with realtemp running. Leave it going for at least 10 minutes. What are the maximum temperatures for each core?

I just want to make sure you've got cooling under control before anyone suggests different settings.

    Hi there Psycho101,
Well, it has been a couple of weeks since I heard from you? It's GREAT to hear from you!!!
I was hoping you would reply, because you seemed to know alot about what I was trying to do. And Thanks For That!
Anyway, I looked at CPUZ and it is E0 stepping!
And I am using a "COOLER MASTER Gemini 2 S" Heat Sink/Fan. You can look it up if you like, but I will tell you it has a 120 mm fan / copper base and 5 heat pipes. The only down fall is the fins are made of aluminum not copper.
It keeps my CPU running at about 104 t0 108 degrees F. At idle! And I have never seen it get over 115 F! That is according to Everest and My Front Panel Guage.

I will run the Prime95 test for you, but I just wanted to reply and give you some info and to say thanks for now!!!

Oh, and also my CPU is running at 1.264 volts give or take .020 right now according to CPUZ and Everest. Is that O.K. right now? Or is it doing some damage?!!!

    Hi Again,
Well, I did what you said and ran RealTemp and Prime95 for 8 minutes! I would have run it for 10 minutes, but all 4 cores/workers had stopped working by 8 minutes! The #1 and #4 cores/workers stopped at about 2 minutes and then the #3 core/worker stopped at 6 minutes! The last core/worker #2 ran for another 2 minutes for a total of 8 minutes!!!
The hottest it got was 65 degrees Celcius.
I don't quite understand why it wouldn't run for the entire 10 minutes? I ran the regular stress test 2 nights ago and it ran for 6 and 1/2 hours before core #1 stopped running!? This was with the current settings I have now. 3.73 GHz and 9-9-9-24 memory timings, 2.040 volts for the memory and Auto for the CPU voltage and everything else.

Oh, and also I have 8 fans total! One 120 mm rear fan, one 92 mm front fan, two 80 mm side fans, two 92 mm power supply fans, the graphics card fan, and the 120 mm CPU fan!

Hope To Hear From You Soon! Thanks!

All I can say is if Prime errored out, especially as quickly as 2 minutes your overclock isn't stable.

Prime on a stable system should be able to run forever and a day without stopping.

As 3.73GHz is no wher near stable, try these settings for 3.6GHz first. Run prime for 8 hours minimum, you should see no errors.

    Thanks,
I will do what you say master! Ha, Ha! Just Kidding! I will try the settings out and run Prime95 tonight before I go to bed!
I sure hope there is no problem?! It did run for 6 1/2 hours at 3.73 GHz with the settings I have now.
Do you think it would have run a lot longer, or forever if I just changed some of the settings that I have right now? Like for example: the CPU Voltage, and the Memory running at the same speed as the F.S.B., or the Command Rate (CMD)?

That was another question I had, was how do I get the Memory to run at the same speed as the F.S.B.? My F.S.B. is running at 1660 MHz and the Memory Bus is running at 1328 MHz. Probably a stupid question, but I don't really want to start messing with things I don't know about.

    Thanks!

Oh, also I added that I have 8 fans total! It is listed in more detail in the post before this one.

    Thanks again!

No need to have the RAM running at the same speed as the FSB. You have DDR3 RAM, so it's impossible. 1600 is the quad pumped figure, the FSB is actually running at 400MHZ. There's no way you'll be able to get the FSB running at 1000MHz actual speed, that would be 4000 quad pumped.

You have DDR3-2000, which can only be run at its maximum speed with an overclocked FSB. Using the 4.00 multiplier you'd need to get the FSB to 500, which is more complex than you would think.

Try the 3.6GHz profile for now, then you can use it as a base to build on.

I understand, my F.S.B. is 415 MHz and my Memory is 664 MHz.
But, my Memory is rated to run at 2000 MHz? At least that is what I have read from reviews. And the F.S.B. for my board is rated at 1600 MHz. Which I am sure you are aware of.
So, right now my quad pumped figure is 1660. So, why can't my Memory speed be 1660? I guess I don't understand that. Because with my Pentium 4 HT 3.73 GHz EE CPU and the same memory, they would run at the same speed? I would leave the System Memory Multiplier set to Auto. I am pretty sure. And the CPU would run at 4.2 GHz and the Memory would run at the same frequency?

Anyway, I just want to understand that's all!

Your board does not run at 1600MHz, and your RAM doesn't run at 2000MHz.

Your RAM is DDR. it can transmit data twice per clock cycle. The actual frequency it runs at is 1000MHz. 2 * 1000MHz = DDR-2000

The FSB can transmit data four times per clock cycle. its actual speed at a 1600 rated FSB (emphasis on rated) is 400 MHz.

1:1 refers to the actual speed of the FSB (400MHz) being the same as the actual speed of the RAM (Also 400MHz or DDR-800).

Your old P4 probably had DDR-400 RAM, I assume. This runs at 200MHz. Your FSB would have also run at 200 MHz. Your RAM multiplier would then be set to a 1:1 ratio. Not because 1:1 is some magical number that's better than anything else. It's not. It was at 1:1 because that's what was needed to get the rated speed on a 200MHz (800 Rated) FSB.

Manufacturers claim the DDR speed to be a speed in MHz. This is in my opinion misleading, and simply not true.

The RAM you have is targeted towards overclockers. The only way you can get its full rated speed (1000MHz for DDR-2000) is by using the maximum available multiplier, 4.00 (1:2) combined with a 500MHz (2000 rated) FSB. Don't let that lead you to believe that because your rated FSB and your DDR RAM figure are the same, that they're running at the same speed. They're not. Remember, rated speeds and double data rate clocks are fictional. It's actual component speed that matters.

O.K., I do understand what you are saying. I was just refering to the total speeds that are advertised. Ex.-1600 MHz F.S.B. and 2000 MHz R.A.M. Memory speed.
I do understand about the 400 x 4 and so forth, but one thing I don't understand is what the different System Memory Multiplier's are? Like 3.20B or 3.00 A or 4.00D?
I guess I should have said, is it possible for the C.P.U. Bus and the Memory Bus to run at a 1:1 ratio?

I just am trying to totally figure this out that's all. I will try to stop asking so many questions and just do what you told me to do.

    Thanks,

    MattR.
