Smile I am requesting some help from Lsdmeasap? Please!!!

Hi there, I tried to change the heading after I posted it, because it sounds demanding!!! I just wanted to get your attention Lsdmeasap. That's all! If you don't have the time or what ever I understand! It's not that big of a deal. Well, it is kind of.
I sure hope you don't think this is kind of strange to contact you like this, but I was reading some different Posts earlier and your name kept coming up in quite a few of them. They kept saying it seemed like you had "saved the day" so to speak. Or at least gotten their systems to run stable!
I thought this would be the best way to contact you, so others can see it.
Anyway, I am really sorry I blew you off before! I had just been trying a few things that Psycho101 had suggested and didn't want to take on to much info all at once!
I did get some good advice from him, and he helped me to understand a few more things!
But I would really like to get this thing to run at 4.00 GHz and be stable! I had it running at 3.73 GHz and the only settings I had changed were: the memory timings and voltage. And left the rest on Auto.
It ran Prime95 for 6 1/2 hours before it stopped!

These are the settings NOW! And my Computer Hardware, Etc.:

It won't run Prime95 more than 3 minutes!!! This is how I left it after working with Psycho101.

You probably need more MCH Core voltage, 1.24 or 1.26.
Your CPU Vcore and Termination seem to be too high for 400MHz cpu speeds.

See the basic bios settings in this post.

You'll make it a lot easier for us to help if you add your hardware list to your forum signature and use post using the generic bios template below:

Also include a link to your memory's specs.

    Code:
    Motherboard: Model: Rev#: Bios Version:
    Cpu: Model
Ram: Brand, Model/Part#, Link to your ram's specs
Power Supply Unit: Brand, Model#, Wattage

Default settings for new setups that are not overclocked.

note: replace all ?? with the value displayed in your bios.
----> Replace "Auto" with manually set values.

Smile Re: I am requesting some help from Lsdmeasap? Please!!!

    Good Morning!
Well, I have been up for a while messing with my computer. And I changed the settings that you had listed for me and ran Prime95. It was running great! It made through the first round of tests, but then I had a Critical Error!!! My computer did the re-start thing!!!
I could not believe it! I sure hope this happens some times when messing with the BIOS settings?
The reason I say that, is because I had a Bad Problem with my computer doing the re-start thing. I talk about it in a previous post I made. But to sum it up, I thought it was a conflict with the Software Program "UltraMon"? Because it started doing it about the same time I installed that program. I kept thinking it was something to do with my Motherboard or Graphics Card Drivers.
But I removed the program and have not had the Re-Start problem since! That has been 5 days ago! And I have been adjusting all kinds of things! And I even had Prime95 run for 6 1/2 hours before it stopped running on one of the cores! And when I did that test I had it Overclocked to 3.73 GHz! With the only settings I changed was the memory timings and voltage!
Anyway, It Just Has Me Really Really Worried Again! Please tell me that it happens sometimes when you mess with the voltages, etc.?!

O.K., back to what I changed when this happened.

--I changed the Robust Graphics Booster from "Auto" to "Fast".
--I changed the Performance Enhance from "Turbo" to "Standard".
--I left the System Memory Multiplier at "4.00D". You had listed "Auto", but --I wanted the memory to run at full speed. Along with F.S.B.
--I left the Advanced Timing Control set to "Auto". And the default values were 4-4-8-60-4 and (CMD)0. I had the (CMD) set at 2 before.
--I set Static tRead Value to "8" for both channel A and B.
--I set CPU vcore to 1.30000 volts. It was 3.5000.
--I set CPU Termination to 1.200 volts. It was 1.28.
--I set CPU PLL to 1.500 volts. It was 1.57.
--I set MCH core to 1.20 volts. Because I have (2 x 2 GB). I know you said this might need to be raised. It was 1.22 volts.
--I set ICH I/O to 1.500 volts. It was "Auto".
--I set ICH Core to 1.100 volts. It was "Auto".

Well, that is what I had it set at when that happened running Prime95. The rest of the settings are as listed before.

I went back and restored Optimized Defaults! I set the memory timings and memory voltage. Left the System Memory Multiplier at 4.00D. And then ran Prime95 for an hour with no problems!!!

So, Please Tell Me That I Overreacted about the system "Crash"! And that it happens sometimes when messing with the voltages?!

Thanks, and Still Want To Hit 4.00 GHz and be Stable!

Hope to hear from you soon!

Respectfully, there are already a wealth of suggestions in your original thread. http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/plea...92/index4.html It seems you haven't tried raising and lowering CPU |Termination, trying different MCH ref levels or as you say here going past 1.22V MCH.

People can't help you if you don't try things yourself too. Review some Q9550/Q9650 threads here and see what others have done. All people can do is suggest things to change that might work. I'm not concerned about wasting other peoples time, simply that not reading and conducting your own research and tests is wasting your own time.

You're not all of a sudden going to be 4GHz stable with a few clicks and a couple of voltage changes. You need to take it upon yourself a little more to find out what you are changing does, it's likely effect and the effect it has on other settings. There's a wealth of information out there.

You know what, I have probably tried 20 or 30 different combinations before I ever even contacted you!
I am just open to suggestions. I am having some real problems with this build!!! From the re-start problem to not being able to get this thing to run stable period!
I appreciated your help, but I think I can do better!

Anyway, all I want is a reply about my recent re-start thing! And not from you, Respectfully!

    Have a Good Day Dude!

Yes, it can be normal for your system to shut down or reboot when messing with voltages.

Until you are fully sure you are stable anything can happen really. And as you suspected any Program or driver can also have adverse affects if it is the incorrect driver or a incompatible program or driver

So do you still need some different advice, or are you getting things going now? If you do need some other suggested settings let me know and I will give you a set to work with

    Hi there,
Hey, thanks for the reply! When you say set, do you mean another set of settings for the BIOS?
If so, yes I would be up to try anything if you have the time! At least another starting point to try and get to 4.00 GHz eventually! I know it takes a lot of patients and time. Just trying different combinations!
Believe me, I had a Pentium 4 HT 3.73 GHz EE overclocked to 4.25 GHz!!! And it was stable!!! But it took me a very long time messing with the settings to get it stable! I mean a very, very long time! And it was running on Air!

As for Psycho101, I am sorry I kind of snapped at you!

Thanks and talk to you soon!

Ya, I just meant I could give you a set of suggested settings for you to work with to try to get things going.

Try this for 4Ghz, and yes you are correct getting things overclocked (Stable or not) can sometimes take a while.

    Hey,
Thanks a bunch! I will give it a go, and mess with them for a while! I might ask you some questions later on if I have any major problems? If that's O.K. with you?
Thanks again! I have a good feeling about this!

I wasn't trying to appear dictatorial in any way, just encouraging you to experement by yourself a little more. You may be able to come u with settings that are, say 45min-1hr stable. That'd give someone a clue to what workd out to make it more stable, then offer suggestions to build on that.

Having someone supply a template, then trying it and reporting no change, what do I do now is just too random. The thread could go on for a million posts of trying different things.

Try Lsdmeasap's settings, noting that he's suggested a rather extreme Vcore and Vtt (CPU term) setting. If it works out stable, then these are the settings to lower ASAP. Personally I would be uncomfortable with a CPU term of 1.45, but I would run it if it were essential to my overclock.

I'm still certain your RAM is playing up for one reason or another. Would be willing to bet my life I could get 4.00GHz on that E0 Q9650 by dropping it into my board, hence my suggestion to try the RAM clocked at 1333MHz with a 400 FSB.

As said, do try Lsdmeasap's suggestions, as they will certainly eliminate low Vcore as a problem (no problems except over heating from a "too high CPU voltage). These settings are IMO too much for every day use though.
