Oh your Joking !! Fark man that sucks. I dont know exactly how paypal works but a chick at work got her money back when something just plain wasnt sent to here. Maybe you can get something happening there. Id start a case with them anyway. What a ******* selling dodgy gear on ebay. I hope it all works out. Its like when I build my Christmas build, all brand new parts waited soo long for them to arrive and then I had Dead Ram and possible dodgy MB that was probably the totally dodgy 2 X PSU's? Its gut twisting when you get excited for a build and then this sorta **** happens.

Ya I would file a SNAD on ebay and then file with paypal, of course after speaking with the seller on ebay through the message center. I use ebay and paypal myself, so I know even if the seller wont offer you a refund or replacement you can file with ebay and paypal. Even if the seller explicitly says no refunds on the auction, if the auction says new or 100% working and undamaged you can file SNAD (Significantly not as Described) and likely win a refund.

    Good luck with this!!

    Chears guys.

I contated him and he's told me to send it back for a refund.

I'm going to the Post Office tomorrow to get it weighed for posting. I'll then file a grevance on PayPal for the full auction amount plus return postage. I'll pass on the tracking number and expect a refund within 2 days of him receiving it back. If I get no word, I'll as you say, escalate the problem to a charge back via PayPal, and leave negative feedback.

Here's hoping he refunds as he should, he'll get positive feedback then. No harm no foul and all that.

I'm going off eBay now TBH. Royal Mail lost a copy of Office 2003 I sold, meaning I got 36 compensation for a 65 sale. I also received a E7200 a while ago that was DOA. The moral of the story: Don't trust someone who doesn't specialise in PC kit and don't trust someone selling a GPU because "It's incompatible with my PC because it's CrossFire". I did think WTF? When I saw the auction, but the price was just too good.

    Great to hear!!

I like nice ebay sellers, I even know a few who will cross ship when things are received broken. Gotta love a nice person in these types of situations, makes for a great ebayer!

I don't think you need to file anyting with paypal at all, until like you said he recieved it and has not sent you a refund after a few days. Don't stick him with a Paypal issue report until then because if you do they lock the account and he will be unable to use it until he resolves the issue with you. Which may lock his money up and piss him off to where he will try to not refund or, or could also hinder him sending you a replacement due to locked funds and no shipping $$ (This has happened to me, not with issue but with the 21 day hold a while back)

Sounds to me like he is doing fine, will send you a refund when he gets the card. I don't hear anything to say otherwise really. I think you will be fine.

Ya, often if the price is too good to be true there is an issue. But not always, especially BIN's as people often list things VERY Cheap if they are in a tight spot and need the $$ now and do not want to wait xx days or re-list due to asking to much the first time. I do that often myself actually, I hate waiting for $$ and often only list things when I am wanting to make a purchase so quick funds through BIN listings and cheaper then should be prices gets the sales sold in a day, sometimes far less

Contacted him the same day I received it and asked for his address. Seems it's not listed on Paypal and I can't access it through eBay either. I'll send a reminder today and if I receive no answer I'll initiate a claim on Monday evening. I'll give until 20:00 to make sure that person is home if they work. I like to give plenty of opportunity for someone to put things right. Plus I'd like to retain my 100% feedback rating.

    Just to update:

Still no word from the seller of the broken card, which is anoying. Oh well, it could be that he's busy, it is the weekend, so I'll be gentlemanly and give the benefit of the doubt.

Good news! My mate was round earlier, and kindly offered to sub me the money I spent on the auction until it gets refunded. With a healthy bank balance (he transfered the cash via the net) I bought a BRAND NEW Sapphire 4850 for 60, only a couple of pounds more than the knackered one.

I'm not 100% sure which design of Sapphire card it was as only the box was shown (sealed with a factory hologram). There are two designs that Sapphire sell. One has the VRM's on the left near the backplate, and contains some electrolytic capacitors. The other design is the same as my ASUS, with VRM's at the end of the card near the PCIe power connector and all solid capacitors. Likely there is no functional difference. I think the custom Sapphire (Vrm's at backplate) doesn't have shader domain temps. It also is confirmed to be a custom BIOS as controling the VRM's via altering controller addresses is handled in a different way.

I will endeavour to post pictures when I install both cards. I may start another thread either in the Gigabyte forum and angle it towards something like "Crossfire benefits on the EP45-UD3P a mid range board with high end performance". If it's deemed inapropriate for the Gigabyte forum (I'd rather post it there as it's the only regularly posted on TT forum really) I'll post it in another section.

Only thing I can see as being an issue is that I have a standard 73mm Crossfire Bridge. It should reach the other card, but I'm not 100% sure. If only Gigabyte had also left two slots after the last PCIe connector too, I could be sure of T-Rad compatibility. If not I can use the stock ASUS Glaciator, but it's no where near as good as the T-Rad, and not as quiet. The Glaciator isn't bad though, for a half copper half aluminium cheap job. Way better than the standard jet engine impeller that comes with reference designs. How a tiny impeller can be so loud is a mystery to me.

Well Its good to see things sorta working out for you. I have no idea why but I didnt get a email notice of a new post in this thread today so sorry for not posting earlier. Hopefully by the morning (UK) you will have a response from old mate about how sorry he is and he'll give you a full refund + Interest for your trouble (yeah Right).

All I can tell you is that the "Standard" Crossfire connector are at there limmit in my X48 Board when connected. Dont know if thats going to help you at all.

I havent had any major ebay issues, Only when I bought my 8800GT and It died in a month it took sooooooooooooooo long for the dude I bought it off to organise to get it returned to were he got it from and so on and so forth like 4 months later I had a new card that lasted about a year. yay great for a $385 AUD 8800GT. But that was when they G92 or whatever chip just came out so yeah. Sparkle are just a **** brand I think.

You should be able to see his address on the payment details page of the ebay auction, otherwise you can obtain his address and Phone # here >>
How do I contact a seller?

Of course paypal will give you the address too once you initiate a claim so you can send the card back. Hopefully it does not come to that for you, I know how hard it is to keep 100% feedback. If he hits you with a negative you can always ask ebay to remove it.

For some reason the house number and street name for him were missing from both the PayPal site and eBay's records. he finally sent me his address though, after accusing me of "getting snotty". Damn idiot.

I'm not leaving him any feedback, screw him. If I were to leave feedback it woul;d be negative, and I'm sure he'd give me negative too. I have 100% and am not willing to risk a reduction (I only have 7 feedbacks so the % will drop a lot).

More bad news! the person selling the Saphire 4850 has tested it before sending and it dowsn't work either!! AAAAAGGGHHH!!!! At least she tested before sending, but it'd have been a better idea to test before she listed it.... Oh well.

I've found a site in the UK that has 27 ASUS cards exactly like mine in stock for 75 each, so I'll get one of those. At least I can be 99.999% sure it'll function and I can use the BIOS from this one with certainty of compatibility.

I've gone right off eBay. I wouldn't dare send out shoddy untested goods, so it doubly annoys me that others do it and seem to think it's OK. I'm willing to bet they knew it was knackered before he sent it. He'd have had to have been blind not to notice the messed up DMI pins.

Ahhh dude thats farking terrible. Its people like this that will really stuff Ebay up. As already in your case it has turned you off and your experence has turned me off lol more than I already was. Im very careful when buying from ebay. usually only from Power Sellers.

As for him thinking you were getting snotty, thats crazy. If I were you I would have been down right abusive. lol. (after I got my money back) You might just have to bit the bullet and splash the cash and get a guarrenteed working card. If that doesnt work out then just buy the 2209WA. ahahah I hope it all works out soon dude, this is soooo frustrating.
