    I thought you was going to wait? It would save you some $$ for sure

    777-20 is good at 1600Mhz, much tighter than that and you are talking Major $$

    No ebay for you then I take it? I do know of some nice deals on Mushkin on ebay, just saying in case you were unaware

    Hmm I think RAM would actually be one of the last things I would by on Ebay. Just due to the potential chance of getting dodgy stuff and then having to muck around sending it back. I guess my experience with the First "decent" RAM i ever got the corsair XMS2 800Mhz stuff that the first lot was DOA. Ahh well. yeah I think its $299 for that 777-20 Dominator. The AUssie Dollar is like 90cents US so the figures are close. I will wait a little as I want to know more about the 5800 GPUs and stuff first. Im not in a major hurry. I did get sparked up though when once the P55 was released almost all the X58 boards in Australia started to fall out of stock and never were replenished. Well all the gigabyte ones anyway. Do other brands make motherboards?? (lol) DDR 3 stock volts is 1.5v? that corsair is 1.65v cant see that being a problem? Im waiting!!!!!!!!...!!!

    Ahh I sell and buy memory on ebay, just be sure the seller has good feedback and you will be fine. Like I said though the seller I was thinking of ships worldwide and will mark as gift, and has great feedback.

    HAHA, NO I don't think there is any other motherboard manufacturers out there. Just Gigabyte is all

    1.65V is the standard for X58 memory, you can use more than that, but that's just what the norm would be is all. And ya, stock JEDEC specs for DDR3 is 1.5V

    For the HD5800 series roughly:

    HD5870= 2.5+x HD4870 or 1.25+x 4870X2
    HD5850= 1.6+x HD4870
    HD5770= 1.2+x HD4870

    This is +/- as the 5800 series is capable of better IQ in most games too, so you get more performance and everything is prettier due to perfect Anisotropic filtering patterns etc. I'd say the nearest card to be 1:1 comparable to a 4890 is probably half way between a 5770 and 5750. Also remember that in DX11 all the 5800 cards will be precisely 100% faster than the 4800 series.

    [B]Comparatively speaking, next to NVidia cards, the low-high end (if that's a proper term) 5850 is about the same performance in DX10 as a GTX285 plus a little bit, that you can spend either on ~10 FPS more or perhaps a bit more IQ like AA, 12xCFAA or even try out the new Super Sampling AA (not too good, blurd more than it smooths). In the UK at least, the 5850 is 80-100 cheaper, supports DX11, consumes a fraction of the power at idle, loads to less draw, is cooler and (not major but...) supports DX10.1/SM4.1. Not many games use this but apparently, when DX11 programmed games start to appear, as you may know ther are certain performance increases that can cross over to the older DX10 pathway. Things such as native multi threading in DX itself (up to DX10 there's poor multi CPU support). Some of the other crossover benefits are rumored to be more useful on DX10.1 capable hardware due t the synergy between them and the corner cutting time saving that Shader Model 4.1 provides. DX 10 was in Assasins Creed before UbiTARD decided that it was p155ing NVidia off and patched it out. It gave me a 15 FPS advantage with 4xAA and everything maxed compared to a 9800GTX+ in the same system with more recent drivers optimised for the game too.

    Will NVidia be faster? Probably. It'd be a bit pathetic if they weren't as there's going to be a 2-4 month gap where they have alll the time in the world to speed things up. Remember though that the PS3 is more powerful on paper than the 360 and Sony is no longer the No.1 console manufacturer. Even Nintendo beat them with a supped up GameCube.

    Currently the drivers need a lot of work. For example for the first 3 months the Vantage score of a 4850 was about 5800. My current single card scores 7950. There are definitely huge advantages to be gained still from driver tweaks. I expect those cards to start getting good at about Catalyst 10.2 onwards. real improvements so far have been delayed as I guess AMD had to concentrate on getting bare bones functionality in Beta 9.10 for 5870/5890, functionality for 5770 in RTM 9.10 and functionality for 5970 in 9.11. they have had no time yet to really tune anything.

    As for your GPU problems, there are a cpuple of things to try.

    Do a complete uninstall and restart, then install 9.11 and then restart again before enabling crossfire. Don't enable it on first boot/install.

    Also try removing the CF bridges, uninstalling, restart, install, turn off, plug bridges back in then boot and enable crossfire. Reboot and check your clocks again.

    Thanks for that Psycho, that gives me somewere to start. I tried what you suggested and I looks like things are working again. The Dell Card goes to 625Mhz when playing. Do you think I could up it to 640 like the MSI without it getting to hot or falling over? I wouldnt mind one of those new 5850 0r 5870's see how the stock goes when Its time.

    This ebay seller ships worldwide and has great feedback, only posting due to your comment, it sounded like you thought you could not get any shipped your way.
    eBay My World - garyjmerrill

    But right now he does not have any triple channel kits, he will though as he always sells them.

    Keep an eye out here as well, another seller with the same credentials. But no Mushkin ATM though

    No, nothing other than how I feel about the companies lack of professionalism in their emails to me.

    Their memory works fine as far as I know
