its more about using less voltages and extending your cpu life and less heat than saving power,i think its good having c1e and eist, who wants to run the cpu at full speed/voltages when its sitting doing nothing at idle?

If you had 10 systems just sitting idle then you might start to see a difference in your power bill.

In my case over the course of a year if my computer was on and idling 24/7 I would save $5 (based on $0.19-0.20/kwh. 30watts/1000watts per kw*.19 per kw*24hrs day*365 days year). When you take into account that I DC, my system probably doesn't idle for more than 1hr a day, so over a year I would barely save $2 ($2.08). Yearly that is $36.62 vs $41.61. And that is with the 2nd most expensive electricity in the US which is nearly double what most see, not sure about internationally though.
Ya, kinda like TRIM is blown out of proportion for SSD's, making all SSD RAID users worried there systems will crawl. GC does a fine job, TRIM is not needed at all.

Anybody have a template for 4ghz using an i7 920 D0? I am using bios F13. I Crunch so it needs to run 100% loaded 24/7.
    Thanks.

Give me your current settings and full specs and I'll advise back, you will need to tweak to stability yourself though before you crunch.

you need to look in advanced voltage control in the bios,if its the bios with the newer layout its harder to find but you can set/change the dvid for sure, did you give those settings a try i posted above??

I am running Prime95 right now and will stop it to re-look. I have not applied your settings yet, but your voltage settings look a lot more appealing and lower than my current settings. I see the setting but it is not editable under "Advance Voltage Control". The cursor just jumps over it.

thats strange,im sure you can adjust it,its needed for clocks above 3.8ghz imo, otherwise you will have to come off the normal cpu voltage setting and then the voltage wont lower when the cpu is idling like it does on normal or auto cpuv setting(which isnt advised at all)

for 4ghz you should try 1.2350000v cpuv or around that
but if you could adjust dvid then it would be normal setting for cpu and +0.0750 for dvid then cpu voltage would drop to around 0.970v at idle and apply +0.0750v to whatever voltage is the normal voltage for the cpu at load, saving you heat when the cpu is idling doing nothing
