i left it powered down for about an hour, and it stopped its reboot cycle. was able to get in and change settings to be like those in post 8, and it just started rebooting over and over again.

I would not flash until you are stable, it might not turn out good as you suspected.

Can you run with only one stick of memory in slot one, by itself? Try both in case one is bad.

If you can, then please test both sticks one by one with memtest95+ latest version from here

suspecting bad ram i actually ran it yesterday, did 2 passes with 0 errors.

I'll still try to boot up with one stick, and then the other.... wish me luck =D

I'd run 5-10 passes on each stick, but yes go ahead and try booting with each one separately to see if you notice any difference

no go, both are doing the same reboot loop, sometimes stopping on the POST screen and freezing til i reboot manually. i tried two different slots too.

Hmm, you said they passed memtest a min ago, how is that if they wont even boot?

Do you have or can you borrow some other memory to rule out the memory?

I ran memtest yesterday, because the system had been rebooting randomly

    today it stopped booting :(

Honestly everyone i can think of has a laptop. I'll check my work computer tomorrow though.

    Ahh ok, I got ya.

Yes, please do see if you can borrow at least once stick of memory somewhere so you can rule out memory as a possible issue.

I snagged a stick of pc6400 from a computer at work and installed it, same thing, its rebooting over and over, and it just froze in the bios.

so it seems that i can use the bios just fine if i leave the computer off for a while, but as soon as i let it try to get past post and start the machine, it starts the reboot cycle, then will stop posting and rebooting there. i was able to store the old bios to a flash drive via qflash just now, seemed fine. I am gonna try to flash the new bios onto it.
