    Post Need help to Overclock E8500 till 4.5Ghz on EP45-Extreme

    hi...can anyone help me to oc my E8500 to 4.5GHz?I'm running at 4.3Ghz nw(453x9.5)but I wish to push it more higher...=)I can get into window with 4.5GHz (473x9.5) but my pc restart 2hrs later when I run the ORTHOS..

    Vcore. That's pretty darn low for a 4.5GHz attempt. At such a high clock the CPU is no doubt reaching its air cooled limit, and probably water cooled limit too. At this point it's likely you'll need a disproportionate increase in voltage for a relatively small clock speed increase, as the CPU stops scaling as well with volts.

    As long as you can control the heat, you can safely go up to 1.3625V with LLC on. For that kind of speed, even with a golden chip you may be looking at 1.4V+, at which point, heat due to the massive clock and high voltage will be your worst nightmare personified.

    I'm honestly really surprised you've achieved this clock withoput changing at least your MCH ref too. 99% of the time a decrease in MCH ref at high clocks and FSB is necessary to maintain stability. If you think you have given enough Vcore, or don't want to go higher than 1.3625 + LLC, then definately do the following and see if it helps:

    Set VTT (CPU termination temporarily to 1.200V. Now set MCH ref off auto and on to 0.740V. Now increase VTT back to your current level. You'll see MCH ref rises as a % of VTT, this is fine and it's what you want. If that doesn't stablise it I'd (especially at your high clock) try 0.720V at 1.2VTT, 0.700V and also 0.680V. Don't under estimate the power of this change, MCH ref is God when it comes to P45 over clocking!
