Default Cant boot to cd on Gigabyte mobo :(

    Hi Folks,
I am hoping one you may have a bright idea that I have totally overlooked reference a problem I have.
I have just built a new PC as per my below signature, and once built it booted to CD/DVD fine from my external USB DVD RW. I installed Win7 RC1 64bit fine and everything seemed to be working.
I then decided as I had 2 x WD Raptor 32GB drives that I would like to put these into RAID0.
I enabled the both onboard RAID devices in the BIOS but and I think I may have inadvertently formated the disks from within the RAID utility.
The problem I now have is that the machine will not boot to the Windows 7 disk. I have setup the bios to boot from USB-CD/DVD but it just boots then says "DISK BOOT FAILURE!".
I have also tried an internal IDE CD/DVD drive from a freind and set it in the bios to boot from this, but still get the same message.
I have also tried the disk into my laptop and the laptop sees the DVD disk and ask me if I would like to boot to it.
I have tried clearing the CMOS as per the manual but the problem still remains.

I am now at the stage of pulling my hair out as I have a new puter that will not boot past the bios.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Ian

Which controller did you plug your hard drives into. You need to establish that to get the correct drivers for your Windows OS and format and setup Windows for RAID. I don't know if the GSATA2_0&1 has drivers for Windows 7 yet. I believe you need to use the AMD 750 Vista RAID drivers. This means you would connect your RAID array to SATA2_0&1. You will need to copy the proper drivers to a floppy disk or fat32 partitioned USB flash drive, and use the F6 option when first running Windows Setup. You can download them from here.---->
    http://www.gigabyte.us/Support/Mothe...hers#anchor_os
Be sure you choose the correct drivers. All of this is covered in your manual. You will need to go into bios and turn on the RAID function on the controller your 2 drives are hooked up to. Also be sure your USB DVD drive is registered in bios. Page 43 set IDE to Auto detect in bios.
Below is page 47 Set it like this----->
    2-6 Integrated Peripherals
    OnChip IDE Channel
Enables or disables the integrated IDE controller. (Default: Enabled)
    OnChip SATA Controller
Enables or disables the integrated SATA controller. (Default: Enabled)
OnChip SATA Type (AMD SB750 South Bridge, SATA2_0~SATA2_3 connectors)
Configures the operating mode of the integrated SATA controller.
Native IDE Allows the SATA controller to operate in Native IDE mode. (Default)
Enable Native IDE mode if you wish to install operating systems that
    support Native mode.
RAID Enables RAID for the SATA controller.
AHCI Configures the SATA controller to AHCI mode. Advanced Host Controller
Interface (AHCI) is an interface specification that allows the storage driver to
enable advanced Serial ATA features such as Native Command Queuing
    and hot plug.
OnChip SATA Port4/5 Mode (AMD SB750 South Bridge, SATA2_4/SATA2_5 connectors)
This option is configurable only when OnChip SATA Type is set to RAID or AHCI. Configures the
operating mode of the integrated SATA2_4/SATA2_5 connectors.
IDE Disables RAID for the SATA controller and configures the SATA controller to
    PATA mode. (Default)
As SATA Type The mode depends on the OnChip SATA Type settings.
    Onboard Audio Function
Enables or disables the onboard audio function. (Default: Auto)
If you wish to install a 3rd party add-in audio card instead of using the onboard audio, set this item
    to Disabled.

    Hi :)

Many thanks for your help with this, I am now up and running in RAID0. Sorry for the delay in reply but the build has taken considerably longer than I thought.

For some reason I can not still get my motherboard to boot from my external USB CD/DVD drive but I am not sure if this down to the motherboard or the drive?, I had to resort to borrowing an internal IDE drive from a freind in the end to get the O/S installed. The funny thing is it works fine from within Win7, just can not boot to any kind of boot disk from it :(

The only other issue I seem to have is with AMDOverdrive, I have run it once and it ran fine, everytime I open up the application now it hangs my system :(

I have tried uinstall and reinstall but get the same issue. I had this also beofre I went into RAID0 and did a reinstall, so this maybe an issue with AMDOverdrive on Win7 RC1 64bit.

Apart from these issues I am very very pleased with my new system and am very impressed with Win7. I am glad I decided to skip Vista and go straight to Win7.

Many thanks for all your help :)

    ++UPDATE++

    Thanks for your replys :)

Well the weirdest thing ever.....I decided to see if the LED on the external drive lit up on boot, so rebooted, entered BIOS, and changed the first boot device to USB-CDROM from Hardisk, all other devices stayed disabled, placed the Win7 RC1 64bit disk in the drive and rebooted and the drive span and system booted to the DVD/CD drive!!

I do not know for the life of me what has changed but suddenly the drive is bootable again :)

I then thought I would try my luck and reinstall AMDOverdrive and again this is now working perfectly. The only thing I can think of is that maybe I installed the incorrect chipset driver for my o/s.

Anyways I have today managed to get my machine running stable at 3.8 ghz on stock cooling with a vcore of 1.5v (44c Idle - 67.5c Load), I was well impressed with this but 67.5c was abit hot for my liking so will test more when I get a better CPU cooler and report back!, this system has the potential to go to 4ghz on air and I havent even started playing with the memory settings yet!!

The one good thing is I have now joined this brilliant forum and will try to repay the help you have given me by helping others!!

    Many thanks
