Default REQ EX58-UD4 IRQ sharing and priority info

    I'm currently running

    i7 920
    asus p6t deluxe v2
    pny 265
    creamware/soniccore PCI sound card

i'm having problems with irq sharing which is interfering with timing and bandwidth on the pci bus. i'm thinking about trying a gigabyte motherboard but the manual has no information on irqs. i already know i have to disable peripherals but it would be nice to know which ones ahead of time.

    thanks

Not sure what to say on this buddy, I can tell you though that gigabyte boards do allow you to manually set IRQ's or let it be done automatically.

Would you like me to post you images of those BIOS pages, maybe that could help you decide? If so let me know and I can post you some pics

seaching the manual for irq gave me 6 hits and all were related to turning off or assigning an irq the internal serial.

i think i found my answer today. the x58 chipset is the problem with my sound card. i think i'm going to get a dfi board with the p45 chipset. i found another guy who got his i7 x58 working with an asrock mb.

i guess i'm ot now thanks for the reply

Ahh well it very well could be X58, but I doubt it maybe just board compatibility is all.

Good luck deciding, I know sound cards can be picky

    Hello,

I have some problem with a newer Gigabyte MOBO which BIOS don't have IRQ setting options. So you say that in EX58-UD4 I can freely assign specific IRQ to my sound card? That would be wonderful

I could not find so much info regarding that in its manual. Maybe you can tell me more or even show some images

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers.

Do you have a sound card problem? If yes, what is the brand and model number of your sound card and which slot is it installed in?
What is your speaker setup, brand and model number?
How are the speakers connected to your sound card? Coax or optical cable? Separate speaker plugs?

Boot into the bios. From the main bios screen, press CTRL+F1 and see if PnP/PCI Configurations appears as an option on the main screen.

Open Device Manager and check to see if there are any problems with your sound card's properties.
Have you configured the speaker settings by using Control Panel --> Sound?

You can view all IRQ assignments by running System Information, click on System Summary, expand the Hardware Resources category, and click on IRQs. You can also click on Conflicts/Sharing and see which devices are sharing IRQs with your sound card.

    Thanks for answering!
We are running a professional recording studio and are in the phase of upgrading. Before, in Win XP, it was easy to assign dedicated IRQ direct from Windows. That is not the case with Win 7.

In the machine BIOS of EX58-UD4, there is no such thing as 'PnP/PCI Configurations'.

    Missed something?

I didn't find PnP/PCI Configurations in the mobo user manual for your EX58-UD4 motherboard.
There were several places in the bios where you could disable some settings to free up a couple of IRQs.

Have you checked to see if the audio card has jumper block or dip switch settings that will let you select a different IRQ setting?
What is the brand/model number of your sound card?

Actually, problem solved The EX58-UD4 have very good Chipset & IRQ architecture so every PCI-slot gives another IRQ

So it is easy to isolate an IRQ, disable some USB ports and volia - sound card is on his own dedicated IRQ.

Your post gave me idea to test with EX58-UD4, I really appreciate your effort! Thanks man!

    Cheers.
