    Default i7 920 D0 & EX58-UD4P Overclock Help

    I've been having a lot of problems getting my i7 to a stable overclock. I've never overclocked before, but in the past week I've read a ton of articles & forums posts, so I'm not going into it blindly. I'm able to get a successful OC of about 3.6, but I can't get any higher. I'd really like to hit 3.8 or 4 with stability. My primary concern is that my QPI voltage is way too high (1.415). I've tried a million different things, but when I run prime95 the computer just shuts down after about 2 minutes. I've tried playing with the vCore voltage, but I get the same problem with everything from 1.3 - 1.5. I've tried adjusting ram timings as well (ram checks out fine via memtest). The QPI seems to be my bottleneck, and I'm nervous to go any higher... especially when the other's seem to reach a 190 or 200 bclk with QPI/Vtt at around 1.3.

    Please please please help a botha out!

    Here are my hardware specs & settings:

    i7 920 D0 Stepping
    GA-EX58-UD4P (F8 bios)
    6G OCZ XMP 1600 DDR3 (8-8-8-24 & 9-9-9-27 timings)
    Corsair CMPSU-620HX power supply
    Noctua NH-U12P Cooler

    @ 3.6 Ghz I'm running prime 95 for about an hour with no errors and temps maxing out at about 72 C (measured via Real Temp)

    Your uncore frequency is too high, Change it to 16x or 17x assuming your memory multi is 8x like shown in your template, Also lower your vcore to 1.35v and check stability
