Have you tried out the latest Beta BIOS yet? The added XHD (Raid Re-named) Intel Xtreme SATA, maybe this would help?

The latest Intel AHCI ROM is also included in the updated BIOS's, not sure if the RAID Rom is though or not. That can be updated by using Cbrom to edit your BIOS. Google will find you some tutorials on this, but I can't openly discuss it in the forums.

I do however have the latest RAID ROM for your BIOS's if you would like PM me about it all and I can send you the file or help further

Gigabyte also just released a new app for XHD, bout to check it out myself

Dont know if i was right really, all i know is on my UD5, my raid controller is stuffed, cant use an OS on RAID0+1 (4x500gbs) and it sucks.
Would love to update the firmware for it but have nfi how :\

After i got rid of my array and changed my disks to ATA everything has been smooth sailing, no crash/bsod/freezing or anything whatsoever.

If the raid rom gets updated in an official release (idk if it ever will but hope it does) then i might give it another try becuase Raid10 is much nicer to use peformance wise compared to ATA.
I would like to try the latest beta (F9a?) with a newer raid rom. :)

Thanks lsd I'll look into it.

Defiantly seems to be a sata raid boot disk issue.

the UD5 pc just past the 4 days uptime mark. LOTS of gaming on this machine during that time also (nephew has been over).

I am not sure, but I could check. I am not running RAID Myself either right now so I have yet to even get to see this XHD Program either.

If you want I can remove the RAID ROM and see maybe if it will say in the details when it was created?

    *EDIT*

Just checked, the RAID ROM is updated for sure to version 8.0.0.1039. The latest I had been previously using myself was 8.7.0.1007. Still not sure though if that matters to the XHD settings or not? One would have to insert the older ROM to see if that mattered or not?

The current raid rom on my ud5 is 8.0.0.1039 this is with firmware F9a (just upgraded).

    Current status

    ga-ex58-ud5
    Firmware : ex58-ud5.f9a
    Intel raid rom : 8.0.0.1039
    Intel raid driver : 8.9.0.1023
OS drive : 2 x OCZ 30gb ssd's connected to the Intel sata controller raid 0.

I'm using XHD with my ssd raid array as the boot device. I'll let it go for a couple of days and see if there is any difference. There seems to be no effect on the "new" XHD option and the older raid rom bios. Incidentally it doesn't seem that the raid rom bios in all the released beta bios's have been updated since it was originally released!

I am also using Intel ICH10R sata raid driver 8.9.0.1023 (dated 4/6/2009).

I've added the latest raid rom to the f9a bios but I'll stay on the official beta one until I find out if the stability on this machine is back or not.

If I can make a few days with out a hard lock up then I think i've found that its not the sata rom to blame as it hasn't changed.

RAID ROM we mentioned (8.0.0.1039) is older!!! Sorry, I musta been asleep last night when I looked for ya! Missed that BIG 7 as the second value in the ROM I have.......

So ya I guess it would have nothing to do with the XHD settings or program since it is the same old one. I have 8.7.0.1007 if you want it, PM me

Seems even recently purchased ud5 boards come with the same intel raid rom (8.0.0.1039). So gigabyte hasn't upgraded this even on recently manu'ed boards.

I think they leave it old because it works and newer versions can introduce bugs from some and not others. So they feel best to leave it I think.

If you need the latest let me know
