ok it's defiantly not stable :|

Machine hung again early this morning. Uptime of 1 day 3 hours according to everest osd.

So that rules out the latest raid driver as a solution. So new bios raid rom it is.

SO we are sure this is not hardware/settings right? Happens at stock as well?

Just checking as I get lost as I said in the PM. I now found what you meant in my email copies of your PM, but am still lost on what I quoted to you that you said to me

Hope the new ROM helps, let us know

I'm 99.99% sure its nothing to do with any other hardware setting. No CPU overclocking. Actually underclocking the ram (running @ 1066 and not the xms1 1600mhz profile).

    Summary so far
    ---------------
I have 2 identical cloned installations of windows xp(1 made from the other with Acronis true home 11).

Install #1. Raid 0 stripe consisting of 2 x ocz ssd's connected to the Intel Raid controller. Bios setting to XHD.
    Install #2. 320GB ide drive.

If windows is run from install #1 uptime no greater than 1 day 4 hours (can almost pick the hour in which it will hang, almost like some time issue)
If windows is run from install #2 uptime is greater than 4 days (longest has been ~ 2+ months between required reboots).
No hardware is changed between boots from one device to the other. No bios change is done (except F12 to choose boot device).

    Have updated mobo bios (F9A)
Have updated raid drivers (intel 8.9.0.1023)
Have just now updated raid rom (intel 8.7.0.1007) so I will have to wait and see if it hangs in the next day or so.

My only other thought which has just occured to me is that perhaps I need to break the stripe set and run the OS off a single non-raid sata drive. will try this if the newer raid rom doesn't improve the situation.

I doubt it is an SSD issue but then again, it could be but i doubt it, and its xp so it should be quite stable.

Koops your pretty much getting the problem as I described by the looks of it now.

When you run installation #1, do you find playing music and video for long periods cause the system hangs to be more frequent?

Please let me know if the newer raid rom helps too, because if so then I'll move to F9a and intergrate it for in the future I can then go back to raid 0+1. :D

Will keep an eye on this thread though, and see how things pan out for you.

My other thought was ... run the stripe on the gigabyte/jmicron controller and see if the problem follows disks or controller so there are a few other permutations I can try (hope i don't have to though!)

I feel for ya dude :\
but I should thank you for saving me the stress and trouble of reconfiguring my disk setup to end up with the same results.

At least Im not the only one who gets lockups using the Raid/XHD on these motherboards, i know its not a good thing but it also lets me know that my motherboard isnt the only one affected. Would love to know why or how fritzman is able to get theirs to run without any trouble at all, compared to our two mobos.

Just installed win7 last night on the same raid array.

Will be curious if it does exactly the same thing in around the same time ie. ~1 day and a couple of hours uptime.
