    Default overclocking a Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R

Hi there, my system specs are:

    Intel C2D E8400 @3.0Ghz
    2x2GB GSkill F2- PC2-6400CL4d-4 DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12

Not too sure what to input in the BIOS settings. Searched the forums and found some settings...but not quite sure if it will work with my system :( Not too sure if just changing the CPU Clock ratio is enough. Please help.

Before jumping into deep water, read the first 2 posts of the memory guide sticky (1st post and take it from there,) read this post.
Now that you have the basics set you computer for max performance without overclocking while maintaining stability.
Reading problems others are facing and the ways to solve them will let you get the idea how things should be done.
Then you can start overclock incrementaly one step at a time till you satidied.
Don't look for instant solutions that may not be good for your configuratin.

    Good luck.

Mmmm gave it a read! Understand memory a little bit more now. But I'm not too sure as to how to tune these settings in the bios.

In the thread you posted, Im not too sure if some of the settings is only for overclocking, so I left what was on the bios. Hope this helps :)

    Easytune:

    Memset:

Note that what you see in BIOS are not the actual memory settings applied.
BIOS shows 4-4-4-12 (CAS-tRCD-tRP-tRAS) and MemSet shows 5-5-5-15. Setting Performance Enhance to disable will probably make the show correctly in BIOS.

So What's the plan, where do you want to go first, set memory timings to 4-4-4-12 or increase FSB?
Settings the timings should be fairly easy, with a little imore bandwith and smaller latencies, and minor gain in some CPU intensive benchmarks.
FSB will give you more power but will take some time.

Oh snap?? I never knew the settings in BIOS wasnt working yet hahaha. I was wondering why Memtest was showing 5-5-5-12 as well!!Thats good to know! Thanks Chike!!

Im not sure...I guess we can start with Memory, I assume thats fairly easy as I turn off the Performance Enhance? I guess we can start with memory first :)

FSB would be the CPU correct? I got a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 CPU Heatsink should be enough >_> Btw do you need my revision for my motherboard?

you need to at least tell us what you're aiming for >_>

Damn...I kinda wanna make my 3.0ghz to a 3.6Ghz...I dont know how much I can OC my ram for though :( But pretty much just OCing the CPU while maintaining a stable system :) Is that better than saying "as high as possible?" :P

Pretty much, just get the best out of my pc, without needing liquid nitrogen to cool my pc lol
