    Default GA-EP45-UD3P E8400 OC problems

I have tried for hours and days to try and get a stable overclock, and i'm unable to locate the problem when my game crashes. World of Warcraft is the only game that crashes, all other games are stable.

    My Setup:
    Motherboard: GA-EP45-UD3P Bios version F6 Rev. 1.1

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3Ghz E0

RAM: Patriot Extreme Performance - Enhanced Latency PC2-8500 1066MHz running at 5-5-5-15 (stock specs) 4GB

Video Card: BFG Tech 285 GTX OC running at the OCX specs (overclocked)

not sure if any other hardware applies to overclocking, if their is let me know.

my goal is to get a stable 4ghz overclock, which i can do and prime95 accepts it for 24 hours. BUT when i launch a game it takes about 20 minutes, then the game crashes (no BSOD). which makes me think that it is video card settings, but then the computer will BSOD later on in the day. so i have no idea what part of the computer needs to be alterd..

Thanks i'll try it out, just a question.. i'm not questioning your knowledge towards overclocking, but may i ask why drop the voltage on the dram to 2.000 instead of 2.100?

i mean no disrespect, and tommrow after school i will try your settings (july 15, 2009)

setting the DRAM voltage too high will make the memory unstable.

2.0V should be enough. 1.9V might be even more stable.

the settings failed 5/5 times :(.. i tested 5 times on each of the ram voltages, 2.0v 1.9 and 1.8. ram is rated and comes stock at 2.1v... anyways, it would make it to the windows xp loading screen then BSOD. all 15 times. probably just a simple mch voltage fix?

cause i can get the ram to boot with 4ghz with it running on turbo at 5-5-5-15 2.1v

you could just use your 5-5-5-15 2.1V and just adjust your mch reference & vtt like I showed you. Try that.

keep the cpu termination at 1.280v? and just mess with mch core and mch reference? what voltages are safe, for those 3?

Default Re: GA-EP45-UD3P E8400 OC problems

no no, you MUST set cpu termination at 1.200 whenever you're changing the mch reference in the BIOS.

After u set the MCH reference, then u go back to cpu termination and raise it up.

Set vtt to 1.200, then set mch reference to 0.650v, then go back to vtt and raise it up to 1.280.

Most ppl consider max safe vtt is 1.4V (you won't even need that much)
Max MCH core should be 1.4V (but you most likely won't need that much)

MCH reference is always safe, but you still have to tweak it correctly to get it stable.
