    Default EP45-DS4 + E8600 Optimizing my BIOS

    Hello!

    I've been reading this forum last year when I put together the system below. I was happy with the result apart from a couple of crashes once a month or so.

    I'm hoping to get some more out of my CPU and there are a lot of values that I don't want to mess with because I don't have a clue of what they do. Are there any figures that are completley wrong or that can be improved? I would appreciate any help.

    EP45-DS4 (BIOS F5)
    E8600 @ 4.2Ghz E0 + TRUE (idle temps at ~39C)
    Corsair Dominator PC8500C5D 1x2Gb (the other one broke)
    HD4870x2
    Corsair 620W

    I managed to boot to windows at 450 FSB with a couple of adjustments but I get a hardware failure in ORTHOS after 2 mins.
    Anything I can do to make it stable at 4.5 Ghz?

    Do you have good cooling? Just checking, 450 FSB may be stable for you but maybe not at the 10 Multi, maybe 4.0-4.2 would be easier and less stressful on your setup

    I would say for now, either way you likely need more Vtt (CPU Term) and less MCH Core, 1.14-1.2 should be all you need if that even for 2x1GB. And raising Vtt may allow you to lower your Vcore as well.

    Thanks for responding!

    The temps at 450*10x are at¨~45C idle but they increase to at least 70C during the 2 minutes of orthos.

    I'll try with that. How far can I go with Vtt?

    My BIOS is very old F5, should I update with the latest F9?

    Well sounds like you may need a better cooler, unless things allow you to bring down Vcore by raising Vtt a bit. You can use up to 1.34 Vtt or so safely, but under 500-500 FSB you should not need more than 1.28-1.32

    Yes, I do suggest you update to the latest BIOS for sure!! Please see the Qflash Sticky Guide I posted if you are unsure about the safest way to flash.
