    Default EX-58 UD4P LAN port....gone?

    Hello.
First time Gigabyte owner, and first time builder. Just booted up for the first time this morning and noticed that my motherboard does not have a LAN port. It simply is not there. On top of the two usb ports is just some barcode stickers. Any site descriptions of the motherboard state that there SHOULD be a LAN port. Any recommendations? should I return it and get another?

It's there but there is a tab covering it. If you will look carefully at the back of the pc you will see it - just bend it out of the way and all will be well.

Thank you for the reply, but there is actually NOTHING there. Unless I am supposed to clip something on or something. Its just the two USB ports, and above them is nothing. Literally, NOTHING.
In the i/o plate, the two "holes" for the LAN are not covered by anything. I can just look through into the computer.
    This is weird.

Everything works great so far, it recognized 6 gigs of corsair dominator RAM. But it does not see internet that i plug into the LAN port. I have no flashed bios or installed any drivers (gpu or motherboard). Do you have any recommendations on my next step?
The hard drive is from a previous system so i have vista ultimate 64 running. I also got an i7 920 and nvidia gforce 275.
Well first of all, do you have the LAN Enabled in the BIOS? Second, I do recommend a clean install likely, what system did this drive come from?

You may also want to update the BIOS and or reinstall the intel INF Driver package you can get it here
    Intel INF

It is likely either due to you do not have it enabled in the BIOS or you need to do a clean install.

Can you check in the BIOS, on the MAIN Page of the BIOS press F9. Do you see LAN MAC Address listed? If you do not, then you need to flash the BIOS, please read the Qflash sticky I posted on how to safely flash your BIOS. If you don't see a MAC Address listed then this would be the first thing to try, flash the BIOS Properly and then check this again, if you then see a MAC Address and you have the LAN Enabled in the BIOS but it is not working in your system then please reinstall the above drivers. Then if still no luck you will need to reinstall your OS, if you do see a MAC Address and have LAN Enabled but still no connection

The drive came from a approx 3-4 year old system with a DFI Lanparty motherboard with an AMD 4800 CPU. I believe LAN is enabled in BIOS, but something called "green LAN" is disabled. Do I need to enable that?

I have flashed the bios for the DFI board i owned previously, so i sort of know how to do that, and i read thorugh your sticky. Q: the newest version is greatest or are there more solid versions then the rest.

Green LAN Can be left disabled, so since you said that it would seem you do have LAN Enabled.

Did you check the MAC Address thing I asked about? I can say you for sure need to do a clean install anyway, for a few reasons. One you are coming from a different manufacturers board, two you are coming from a very old chipset, and three you are coming from a AMD to Intel. Clean install is a MUST!!!

I use UD4P myself, so I can suggest the latest Beta F9c, available in the latest BIOS Sticky, as it is great. Or you can wait a few days as I know they are getting ready to release a new set of Beta's with a nice memory setting added in. I'd wait, since the issue really is likely you need to do a clean install. When moving from P35 to P45 or something like that it is generally ok, but you are making a way larger/older move to something newer and different all together so you really have to do a clean install no matter what

Yea it does show a MAC Address, and the LED just above the cable is a solid yellow.
Guess I will have to install windows again. Thanks for your help today :)

BTW: Cool feature how in the bios: it shows if the case is open.
