IBT temps are high 70's and I keep prime at mid 65's. approacing 4.4GHz gives me 80 degree temps in IBT, and high 60's with prime. Am I correct in my safe temperature ranges? I figure it never hurts to have a expert professional opinion. I'll try to stay out of your PM's now, since I am sure you have tons.

    Intel Cooler? WHAT????

I mean, sorry what do you mean by that?

Do you mean you are using stock intel cooler? If to that is for sure why you are having issues.

I'd only suggest a very small overclock with those and they are only designed to dissipate heat from the CPU when it runs at stock speeds

But, Maybe I am lost.... It happens

I see you hit 80C in IBT at 4.4, sounds about normal to me, this is with HT Enabled right? I'd say that is about all you can expect without going to water cooling really. And even on water you would still come close to that with IBT, I hit 72-74 sometimes at 4.2 on my X58 setup on water.

Your prime temps sound fine, that is much easier on your system as you know. Either one, keep in mind stresses your system WAY more then you ever will anyway so just remember those temps are likely only to be seen in those programs.

You can use more than the 1.365 you mentioned, if temps are good and you have no worries about your warranty and or plan to buy a newer CPU in the next few years anyway. Max per Intel Doc's in 1.45 for 45nm so you still have a ways to go

The 1.365 you see listed as VID MAX is only the MAX amount that they will ship a CPU from the factory out with, not MAX Allowed Vcore before damage can occur.

Here is the latest post I made for a user about voltages for P45 and 45nm CPU's >>

I meant, this GeminII s is my first aftermarket cooler. I always used the boxed coolers before. I could only reach 3.8GHz with the Intel cooler. I am now at 4.3GHz and working on higher. Have not gotten 4.4GHz stable yet.

New case fans brought temps down drastically. now case temp. is around 30c. CPU temp went down also: IBT low 70's, Prime low 60's.

Thanks for all the exceptional information!
I figure I can hit 4.4 now, with a little more vcore.

Not sure about your HT enabled question. Is that Hyper Threading? Only HT I could think of.... HyperThreading is not available on E8500.

Ahh ok, thanks for the clarification. Like I said I get lost sometimes!

Ya I meant HyperThreading, see I told you I get lost. I think I thought you was on X58, but then again I linked you to P45 info so I dunno? HAHA

Poor LSD, I sympathize with you. But I am glad I was not missing out on something important.

Ok here is what I have now that my fans are cooling properly.

This is my stable 4.3GHz still working on others. Needto tune MCH Ref.

Thanks for your support guys!! Yes, it is hard to keep up and try to keep track of members who frequent often and posts by those who come and go.

Have you tried things without the .5 multi? Just wondering as I always found those to be troublesome

CPU Vtt (Termination) and PLL should NEVER Be left in AUTO, this is likely killing your CPU now if it has not already done damage. Please fix this ASAP.

Auto will give 1.8+ PLL and 1.5+ Vtt at 4Ghz, not sure how much more that would be at 4.3 but at 4Ghz that's already WAY TO MUCH

MCH Ref can't be tuned until you find a stable Vtt, and that can't be found until you are sure what MCH Core and tRD you are going to stick with. So you have a lot of work to do I would say

No matter what you do or dont do in regards to MCH Ref, MCH Core and Vtt, please get Vtt and PLL out of auto.

I dont have to worry about that Vtt and PLL stuff do I? I cant remember seeing it in my X48-DS5 BIOS. I have just set the CPU Voltage to 1.25v and everything else is stock and manual.

You have FSB voltage, which is like Vtt. I suggest setting that to +0.1 for stability and to get it off of auto, then when you feel you need more raise it.
