Yeah I have set the FSB Voltage manually to Normal. Which is 24hours prime stable with 3.09Ghz. However I can crank the **** out of the FSB volts but makes no difference to stability issue @ 400Mhz FSB. I have yet to do any more testing on this as I just want to get sick of the current major speed increase on my daily driver from the old Pentium D lol D is for dog ****.

Edit: At this present moment, you have exactly 12,000 more posts than me. lol. Just though Id point that out, no reason.

I would not use normal, I'd set +0.1 or more. Normal may scale like Auto with FSB, not sure since we can't monitor the voltage with anything but a DMM

400 FSB stability issues? What CPU, should be easy

Lol Yeah Ill buy u a box of cookies. Well I will set to +1 just to feel confident that its not gettin overvolted, now u got me worried.

With the X48-DS5 the E8500 Smashing anything I can through at it. 3.8 with stock volts without trying 9.5X400 But the Q9550 is what im running now and its being a silly buger Currently Im Running 354X8.5=3009Mhz with everything stock and its totally stable. But If I put it to 400Xanything it errors out or freezes in prime within minutes. I tried upping every voltage on the board @ 400X7 X8X8.5 and nothing seemed to work. So I just settled of Q9650 speed for the time. I havent had a real chance and It doesnt look like this weekend is going to be any different to fiddle. I just need to remember to swap HDD's over to boot on when Testing cause Im not fond of 7 hours to rebuild RAID 1. lol

EDIT: I didnt mean to kinda take over the thread. Im happy to move my discussion over to my thread http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/new-...9/index27.html

Ya I am not sure and without a DMM you could not tell. If you have one though you could always check it out.

Hmm, I'd say through your testing for 400 FSB stick with the whole multi's, .5's always seemed to be buggy I think. Maybe you have a bum chip, but I thought they could all at least do 3.6 for sure..... maybe you need to just give her some more volts

Yeah Tried without the .5's and also gave it a truck load of Volt. Well I went to 1.375v before I wasnt going to go anymore because I dont want to run my chip like that. I really think that maybe its just a bit of a dodgy chip. I wonder if I can RMA it? lol "Umm Yeah I cant overclock the **** out of this chip, can I have another?" lol. It will play arma 2 fine for hours on 400X8.5=3.4 but takes a crap one core at a time in Prime 95 after about 4 minutes

1.375 may not be enough at all, what droop does your board have? You may need to go into the 1.42-1.44 range for 400+ FSB

You could just complain and go through all there hassle testing saying it is not stable at stock and get a RMA I am sure. If it is worth that hassle and possible crapshoot for ya.

Could just be the board, have you tried it on the P45 you have?

No I havent tried the Q9550 on the EP45. But the E8500 Works awesome on the X48 @ 400mhz @ 1.25Vcore so IDK. Im actually happy with 3ghz for the Q9550 its quick enough for now, and by the time I get sick of it I'll hopefully have a I7 build underway. I dont want to put that much voltage through my chip. I want cool quiet everyday allday usuage machine. Reliability

Ahh just wondered as it may clock easier for you, and use less volts, on the P45 than the X48 because you have more adjustments available to you.... so you might want to switch them around?

Hu. I didnt know that. So much for the X48 being the "Enthusist board"

Well it was, when it came out 2-3 years before the P45 did
