    Default 8GB Issues on GA-EG45M-UD2H

    Hello,

Just found this forum and hoping you can help me with this board. On first setup flashed the BIOS to F3 and filled all four slots with Kingston ValueRAM as specified here: http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KVR800D2N5K2_4G.pdf from there tried to install Win 7 RC1 64-bit multiple times, each time getting errors during the expanding files phase "corrupt files", tried new downloads, new DVD burns etc to no avail.

I did manage to install Vista 64-bit but after install had a lot of issues with corrupt downloads, system files etc.

Eventually on a hunch removed all memory except 1 2GB Module in slot 1.

Install of both OS's worked perfectly with no instability afterwards.

After that I tested all my modules one by one in slot 1 using the Windows 7 built in diagnostic on the extended setting and all passed fine. I then tested each slot with a good 2GB module in it. All slots tested fine.

So I'm wondering if there is something I need to change in the BIOS to get 8GB to work without issues. Currently all Intelligent Tweaker settings are at the default.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

That's possible, hopfully you you'd be running without a problem soon.
Some more information is required for a hollistic solution with best settings possinble.
Please fill the template located at this post with your oen settings, suggested and set. It's just a template, pay no attention to the settings sin it, just replace them with your own.
If Some parameters do not apply to you delete their entries, if some are missing add them.
It will also be a good idea to add the link to your ram to your signature.

I understand it is 2 4GB kits that you are using or is it a single 8GB kit?

Thanks Chike, I'll get on that template when I get home. Yes, I am using two 4GB kits each of which consists of 2x2GB modules.

    Thanks!

I see your settings options are about the same as mine so the tamplate found at the bottom of this post may be more suitable.

Should I put in the full 8GB before getting the stats?

No no need, but can you boot with one kit (2 modules) in dual-channel mode or this fails too?

It is a bit bothering the default advanced memory timings do not show.
If you have not loaded optimized defaults it is advised that you do so.
If you can post a screen caprure of MemSet main and spd window, and EasyTune advanced voltage settings it may help too. (crop or resize the image to contain only area needed and clear non windows areas to reduce image size, png format is good)
Most likely you need more MCH Core for 4x2GB configuration 1.24-1.26v or even more.
The memory spec says the ram can operate at 1.8v +- 0.1v so increasing DRAM Voltage to 1.9v may help too but try the MCH Core first.

I did load optimized defaults before making the settings for my configuration.

Should I show the settings for the current 4GB or with the full 8GB installed? (BTW, the PC seems to be stable with 4GB)

I don't see a SPD window for the MemSet software, did you mean CPU-Z?

    Thanks!
