Correct, no trial version, 2008, and i did let it run its course. good program, used it since the 04 version...afterwards I even searched the computer for passmark and performance test, did find an empty folder and deleted it but no joy on a reinstall of it.
May be able to find an older version i can use. Makes me wonder how it knows...ha.

Hmm, musta left something in the registry then, odd to see Your Uninstaller miss something like that, but I guess it happens

If it is super important to you that you can use this, PM me and I can show you how

I was never able to get performance test7 back on but did download PTv6. This was the results after overclocking to 3.5. No other changes to the machine except upping the multiplier..

For general performance benchmarks, nothing beats SuperPi mod IMO. It's dead easy to tell when you've made a performance improvement. Faster performance = faster calculation times. Sweet.

For more synthetic tests I recommend Everest Ultimate. I like using the RAM benchie in particular as an even more in depth analysis when setting timings. What SuperPi won't pick up in regards to RAM, Everest will, it's detailed to the nearest MB/s and also tests CPU cache's so you can see what effect a CPU and FSB OC has on every little part of your PC.

Programs do often add hidden entries to the registry etc to log when a trial started and when it should end. Gone are the days where it was written to a plain text file in the install directory. Back then all you needed was a clean copy of the file and you could write a .bat to copy it over when the free uses ran out. As Lsdmeasap says, a good uninstall utility such as Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs, Solve uninstall problems which is free ware. Install a program via it and it logs every single change made to the system, allowing you to completely wipe any and all traces of a trial version from your PC.

Tried the revo uninstaller, good program but did not work as far as being able to trick a trial program, as a matter of fact, even using the most complete uninstall, it left the main install folder. during a reinstall i was ask if i would like to use an existing folder from the program... curious.
Also it appears that one should be careful about what they choose to delete when exposed to the registry section of the uninstall part. Very possible I am not as familiar with all features as I should be too.
Will try the superPi as suggested, thanks.

Yes, revo can be tricky if you try to uninstall something tht was already there before you installed Revo. Using the "Install and monitor Program" (or similar) option is much better. This way, it logs everything the progrm does including all writes to the registry and any hidden files it creates. Unfortunately as this is the most effective option, it's not verry good at removing pre-existing trials etc.

Hope you find SuperPi to your liking. You may ant to run three 1M runs to get an average figure as times can vary by a small amount, maybe 0.05 seconds or so.

    Hi guys,
i am about to do another build with the 550BE, and was going to use the 770 board again but wanted to know if there were any others to consider, at 80 bucks it seems to be one, but if there is more bang for the buck, i would like to know.
i had considered the micro board with built in video but didn't really want to go micro. the video is not critical on this build.
    thanks
