got the new one and plugged it in, same thing. i believe it is a compatiblity issue with either the mb or psu.
plugged the card in on another pc and it fires right up. sending it back for the last time.

my 8800 works like a charm so i dont think it is the psu. i lean mb.

You can't crossfireX Nvidia or Geforce cards and your motherboard does not support SLI. You may want to consider this when purchases are made. You surely should try another power supply. Could you borrow one from another system and try it?

of course i removed the 8800 first. this was just the sapphire alone. the card is good because it runs in another computer with identical psu.

Quite the opposite for me, I hate Nvidia due to past issues. And actually the ATI Brand I prefer and suggest to customers is Sapphire.

So you still need help with something or no?

I prefer Sapphire as well. A Radeon 4890 should be a very good card. I am in Salem. You know 360 to 460West to the other side of Roanoke. I traveled to Midlothian and Powhatan quite often.

i really would like to get this card running. my powersupply is 700w and is brand new. i do not think it is that because my 8800 runs fine with either 6pin adapter off of the supply.
the sapphire runs great on another pc so that elimates the card as being the problem. i have set my bios up as was suggested earlier and it still would not post. tried both gpu slots with same results. plugged the card in and used a seperate psu for the 6pin plug-ins and still would not post. it really must be the mb. any help would be great before i return this card on monday.

OK I am just grasping for issues I have seen or heard of here.
You should clear cmos to eliminate any errors with a manual setting in bios. Plug the monitor into the dvi closest to the motherboard. Check your monitor connection. Are you using a DVI to HDMI, adapter or DVI to VGA adapter? It's rare for the adapter or cord to be bad but not impossible.

    tried clearing cmos, no go
using dvi on card(only one) same cord using with 8800 which is working fine.

i dont think it is the cord as the card will not even post a vid pic. the fan goes 100% on boot with no vid but the pc goes into window as i hear it doing it.

Latest BIOS? Last check before you return the card I suppose.

Did you ever contact Gigabyte tech support to see if there was any known issues with that particular model? If not might as well ask
