    Default EP45 UD3 and cheap?5300(667mhz) memory testing

Im not sure if this should be in the memory section or not but.

I have some $70 credit with newegg so im thinking of trying some ocz blade memory.
In the meantime however i pulled out my gskillsand put in some generic samsung 5300(2x2)G to try em.

1.worked fine and recognised at stock timing at 333mhz fsb
    1 full pass of memtest at667mhz 5-4-4-14 1.8v

    2.cpu stock memory 400/800mhzmhz with 2.40B multiplier.
    1full pass of memtest at 800mhz 6-5-5-15 1.9v

    3.cpu 2.8Ghz fsb 400mhz 2.00D multiplier.
    1 full pass of memtest at 800mhz 6-5-5-15 1.9v

    4.cpu 3.1Ghz fsb 443mhz 2.00D multiplier.
    1full pass memtest/1 hr occt/ at 885mhz 6-6-6-18 2.2v

I already know how fast my cpu will run but I thought the tests were interesting. These are speed binned 667 mhz chips/modules but a 30% overclock is still pretty good.
Some of this is down to the board and its adjustments/performance.

They are M378T5663RZ3-CE6 sticks and probably sell for like $8- $9 in bulk.
I havent seen them advertised retail.

My main reason for posting tho is .
Lets say someone has a Hewdellopackarama system with a reasonable cpu and has enough cash to by a UD3 board cos they want to overclock a bit:

The standard system memory may be just fine for a moderate overclock.
If they are tight on cash a new board ,n probably psu (edit: case also, if theyre bought system isnt full atx size) may be all they need for a good performance increase.A cpu cooler, better gx,better memory could be added as budget allows.

If any gigabyte representative wishes to send me some cash for the free promo,Im amenable

Could a person actually fit a ud3p in one of thoses critters you mentioned? I am under the impression you can't.

    Intresting thought though.

yeh case too if its not a full atx size (dont forget those "standoffs").

HP Case maybe, but a Dell it would not work without a lot of modding to the case itself as they are most always BTX cases and the PCI Slots are backwards and on the reverse side

Just a qwik update on this
Now running 2x2gb gskills slots 1+3 and
    2x2gb samsung slots 2+4 .
    Rock solid at
400 mhz cpu ref ie 1600fsb
    samsung needs 2.18 v for stable 800mhz ddr2 speed.5-5-5-15
Edit :actually 2.10 v was giving errors in testing, but 2.18 doesnt. I went straight for 2.18,2.16 or 2.14 might be just fine.
Yes i know the gskills dont but ive run that V thru them for 1000mhz.

"old pc" pa73pvm-s2(820d cpu, 9600gt gx)now has 1.5gb memory back in .(older ddr2 sticks)

    Main pc cpu 1.3 v .mch 1.24v
cpu is only at 3.2ghz not 4
460gtx graphics is happy at 820mhzgpu/1100mhz ddr5 mem.

The whole pc is much quieter ,well yeh it would be.

on the datech 90mm 24 w fan (ds9238-12hbtl-a).A common dell part.

Its a real beast of a fan.. If you want hot air extracted its the biz.
Huge static pressure and cfm at high speed.

The problem is that at anything over 2000rpm(idle) its like being at an airport near some jet aircraft.
4000 rpm+= "Yes I can fly"! or massive turbine noise.

So it had to go :(

    400cpu ref
    memory bandwidth=7-8gb/s(previous 9-10gb/s)
    3d advantage = 17.5k-17.8k(previous 18.4k-18.9k)

It doesnt really matter a lot with the apps/games I use ,il play around with the 8gb memory for awhile.

    425 cpu ref
    2.18v thru the memory
    Timings 6-6-6-18 !
It feels fast enough tho undoubtedly its slower than cpu at 4 ghz

The 667 mhz rated memory tests without error at 880 mhz(admitedly at 6 cas timings),but everything is quiet.like relaxed at 425 cpu ref, bandwidth is ok at 8gb/s or so.
    Can overclock gx np etc.
Mainly tho im impressed with the speed of the (value)667mhz memory.
    800 mhz at 5 cas and 880 at 6 cas,both at 2.2v in a mixed 8gb setup.
