Gents, I have taken the plunge to build a new computer and although I think I’m close, I am having some issues. Any help will save me hours and days of time. I am trying my best to hang in there without forking out money to have someone fix this but after 4 straight days and two OS reloads and repeated re-boots, I am getting close to giving up. Please help!!!

My problem occurs during startup or cold boot. It appears to goes away when the machine is warm or rebooted after entering the BIOS.

On the initial boot I am getting garbles across the screen as though the video card is not working. When XP loads, everything is large as though I have just installed a new video card. I reboot and hit DELETE to go into the Bios and I have a readable but very garbled video screen. I enter MB Intelligent Tweaker and hit the down arrow key down very fast and then up very fast and suddenly the screen clears up. Sometimes it clears up when I enter the Tweaker screen and other times it takes a minute or two.

I have version 1 of the board and have updated the Bios this past week.

As you describe it it may be a problem with the video card and not the board.
Try to reseat the video card if you haven't tried it before.
Then if possible try another video card if you have one, or try your card in another board if you know someone that has a board PCI-E graphic posrt.

I would try a tRead value of at least 8 if not 9 to start off with and a command rate of 2.

G/L

EDIT: after re-reading your post I would also disable Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.).....: AUTO <<< Disable

The recommendations in this post should help. Make sure that you've first loaded OPTIMIZED settings from the main bios screen.

Try using your video card in the 2nd pci-e slot or try booting with a different video card.
Include a link to your memory's specs.

Guys, thanks but I now have a smaller issue! I have four monitors connected. I placed another video card in the PCIEX16_1 slot and it worked. I placed the other PCIEX16 card in the PCIEX8_1 slot and it works sometimes. The two screens do not load each time on startup but will show if I reboot. One card is an ATI and the other card is an NVIDIA. I plan to get two identical cards in the future. The other issue is my second primary monitor (the one running off of the PCIEX16_1 slot turns on and then turns off and I have two click the power button on the monitor. Thanks in advance for your help.

I would assume that is due to the different drivers needed but I am not sure as I have not used multi monitors or cards in that fashion. Maybe you should ask and see if someone can help you in the Audio and Visual section of the forum.

Sorry I can't help. Of course someone else may stop in here as well, but I would go ahead and ask in the other section too while you wait
