I've noticed the Core i7 guys are under volting their PLL and then lowering their VCore: Undervolt CPU PLL
This might be an i7/Evga hardware specific tweak.
We should try this on our EP45 setups and see if we get similar results with lowered voltages and temperatures with a stable system.

ET Starts in the tray because people would complain if it started opened. So either way someone is not happy

I'd keep PLL with 45NM under 1.6 if you are not doing a bench run

I thought that you had to "launch" ET and that ETcall and GUI are what loads at startup (GUI.exe runs with a "-m" if you look at msconfig). Oh well, it runs as it should (now that I know the process) and there's no need to "pick nits" about it.

You can change that msconfig entry if you like, remove the -m and it wont start in the tray

I disable it and all related services via StartCPL so none of it runs at startup on my setups

I remember StartCPL, I had it in my XP build for a while.
I've already taken it out of my Registry setting, ET that is, they should offer a setting option to turn it off/on at Windows Startup like Steam and others do.
The only thing I load at startup, outside of AV and Audio, is my G15 Keyboard, limited to performance and Clock, no POP3, RSS, Multimedia, etc.

CoreTemp plugs into the G15 too, which lets me run it minimized on screen, as it all shows on the G15 LCD.

Well you can right click the tray icon and disable it from starting, but not the services so I know what you mean
