Ok, so by switching those on, would I have to have EnergySaver running all the time to prevent any system problems or is it ok to have those on even if the program isn't running? Originally I always used it just when I knew I wasn't going to be at the computer all the time (during virus scans, etc)

i have all mine turned on and do not use the software and have no problems. I believe having these options on also help to alow the computer enter sleep state but not positive. If you encountering any problems they should only be when trying to wake the cpu up from sleep if you have problems with that, it means your system is not fully stable meaning voltages need to be changed in bios to stable the system or make sure you have updated the bios to the latest version which is f10e for 1.0-1.1 boards and fda for 1.6 boards

I've flashed BIOS before so no worries there, thanks for the link though.

Hey on a totally unrelated question... My system has a backup power supply on it so that if the power in the house goes out that the computer stays on and doesn't take a hit. (also the PSU is tied to the computer to shut it down if the power is running low.)

We just had bad storms move through a couple hours ago and the second the power went off in the house the computer flicked off immediately while everything else attached to the PSU stayed on. I assume there's settings in the BIOS to prevent this from happening but not sure. I never had this issue with my other board. I went into the "Power Management" settings and switched "AC Back Function" to "Full-On" instead of the default "Soft-Off." Would that help or is there something else going on I need to look at? Thanks again!!!

A UPS you mean? Maybe it's over loaded or dows not respond in time? Does the same happen when you unplug it from main power?

If you have a UPS, then regardless of BIOS settings, the machine should carry on as normal. If it's a house-wide backup system then maybe there is a small delay before it kicks in, causing the machine to power off?
