Yes lower results are better, the 1M result look good for 2.83Ghz.

Cool, thanx for info guys I guess I have to change stuff in BIOS like lowing tRD to 6 or what not to compare and see if I get better results?

I was also messing around in Everest (have no clue what I'm doing ) but I ran all the benchmarks at the bottom of the list tree on the left, (not sure what the CPU and FPU tests do), and it put my score in with some random computer builds; I am guessing these are random builds to compare my score to that Everest has put together?

How do you guys compare results in Everest to check your performance; Just guessing you check it with the random builds in there or if you change BIOS settings and then run tests again and compare?

thanx again and sorry for all the Questions, as I have never used these benchmark programs before

IBT Thread setting, Auto or 4 cores?
Try both and use the setting that generates the highest CPU Core temps.
I tested my C2D with Auto, 2, 4, and 8 cores. Times and GFlops varied noticeably between the different test settings. My best GFlop scores, lowest times and highest temperatures were with THREADS = 2. The AUTO setting gave the lowest GFlops and temperatures [about 8 -10 (C) lower] and the longest times. All tests were free of errors. With your C2Quad, your best performance and higher temps will probably be with 4 threads.
note: I'm using w2k pro sp4, not XP.

IBT is primarily a stress testing tool, not a real benchmarking tool.

Post your current bios settings using one of the EP45 bios templates from here, and we'll help you optimize your system at it's current speeds. Once it's proven to stable, you can then decide if you want to tweak it further now, or sometime later.

Be warned, once you start on the o/c ladder, it's hard to stop.
With your hardware, your Q9550 can easily run at 3.80 - 3.90 speeds with modest voltage increases. Going over 4.00GHz is best suited for masochists.

We all use this Everest test normally when comparing or showing someone a everest benchmark >>>

"Tools Menu" Then Cache and Memory Benchmark

Went to post you a benchmark and got another Blck error!! Great, WR 381 Bclk with ram at 787-20 3055Mhz!!

Thanx for reply's guys, well, I'm pretty sure my system is stable as is, at stock settings and frequencies. IBT 10 runs max stress passes with 0 errors on auto and 4 threads, (get best gflop results with manual 4 thread setting). Ran Prime95 Blend test for 24 hours and 0 errors and have done countless Memtest86+ passes with 0 errors. IBT get max Core temp on 0 core @ 59c.

Thanx for everest info also, I did all the tests under benchmarking at the bottom of the tree on the left (memory, cpu and fpu tests), and also did the one you are showing, the cache and memory benchmark.

So I think I will officially close this thread finally

And as what ProfJim was saying about OCing my Q9550, I think I will start a new thread on trying to do a mild OC on it, as I have never OC'd any of the builds I have made and am a noob in that area, so I'll need a bit of, well, help...
Thank you all for helping me through my arduous problems with this build, have never had so many problems out of all the systems I have put together, thanx so much
