Ok I'll try that, and try and make a new slipstreamed xp disk on another computer, can I make it on a vista setup computer?

Also when you said reset cmos do you mean just loading optimized defaults in bios? and what did you mean by set up "hds" as I want it?

thanx again guys, I'll have to try this after work.

Yes you can make it on a vista computer just use the xp disc for slipstream disk file not vista's.

Read this post on how to reset the CMOS - Scroll down to Clearing the CMOS.

I would suggest you use Nlite to slipstream SP3 if you planned on trying again, it does sound to me like you have some OS issue due to the way you mention those programs erroring on you, they should not do that at all

Here is Nlite page and a guide

Thats awsome, thank you so much for that link for Nlite. I am going to make it right now and do a full reinstall and format. I was also thinking that this 1066 ram is such a pain to get to work that maybe I should just RMA it back and get a 2x2 pack of the 800Mhz ram, since this motherboard seems to be picky and optimized for that ram type. How much performance do you think I would loose going to 4 gigs of 800Mhz instead of 1066?

You could always us it as DDR-800. What's the current settings?

Compatibility doesn't depend on the RAM being DDR-800 or DDR-1066. There's no radical difference in chip design etc. You may have the same problems with a set of DDR-800. For example some manufacturers may use identical modules and IC's for DDR-800 and DDR-1066. They may sell the DDR-800 as 4-4-4-12 @ 2V and the 1066 @ 5-5-5-15 and 2.1V. They'd be the same modules just that you have to set different timings and voltages for the different speeds.

A while ago there were certain DDR-533 and DDR-667 modules capable of doing DDR-1200+ with a raise in voltage and timings.

The UD3 is definitely not optimized just for DDR-800. It's up to the end user to set up the board to optimize performance and stability at the given speed. The UD3 boards give a wide range of speed control, voltage and timing control that suit all speeds of RAM. In some circumstances, particular RAM IC's may have issues running on certain boards.

Your RAM doesn't have any known issues with the UD3P, in fact quite the opposite. Members on this forum have had great success with this RAM model, including getting a 4GHz+ CPU overclock and running 8GB of this RAM (4x2GB). All in all it's excellent stuff, and can be run at DDR-800 if you wish. You may ofc have defective RAM, but that needs to be verified using Memtest. If Memtest passes 5 full sweeps, it's likely a settings issue not a hardware or compatibility one.

Ok so good news so far, I made a new slipstreamed xp disc with sp3 on the Nlite program and re-installed my OS and everything is going fine so far. I found that the problem I was having with IBT is that I needed to have Microsoft Visual C++ and .net Framework 2.0 or later installed. So I installed those and I can run IBT now.

Before I start the test Im not sure what I should set stuff too like the Stress Level, Times to Run and Threads settings. If you could let me know I will start the test^^ And I know I need to have a CPU thermal monitoring program going while I do the test right?

    Ok thanx again guys^^

-Forgot to say that when I re-installed my OS I first changed to my known good ram sticks I had on my other system which are 2x1 GB of Gskill 800Mhz. Just want to start with this ram and try tests before I try the new 1066 ram I keep having to mess with ><

All the programs you'll need are in this thread. http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/late...y-tools-30530/

Generally peeps run IBT & LinX for 10 runs, but watch your temps on those two, OCCT for an hour. Prime 95 run Blend until it errors, Small FFT, and Large FFT till they error.

I also get CUPZ, HW Monitor, Real Temp, Core Temp, Memset, and Memtest86. Everest is a good all round program for monitoring and testing. Bad part is its only a 30 day trial.

    Good Luck

Do I want to run any of these monitoring programs while I am running IBT, LinX or like Prime95? And what CPU temp and Core temps do I want to stay under for safety?

And do I want Memtest86+ v2.11.iso or Memtest86 v3.5? (cant remember which one I downloaded before)

    thx again 8)

always leave realtemp or any other temp monitoring program up while stressing cpu with any program. Max core temp is Tjmax 100. for safty dont let the cores pass 80 or distance to Tjmax 20.
