    they say all you need is the size of a grain of rice worth of thermal paste in the center of the cpu as it will spread easy. If you have enough to try with or the time to seat and reseat the cooler start of small and keep adding untill the whole cpu is covered with a very thin layer. As far as doing other stuff while prime95 is running? Well if your just surfing the net yeah no problems but i would try playing a game while doing so since you cant monitor your temps. I actually did this but exited the game the second i could becuase i forgot prime was still running but i was supprised it loaded just as fast as if i was not running prime.

    Here's what I do (right or wrong) Put a small bead in the center about 1" to 2" long then take my heatsink and set it on the processor. Then turn it back and forth applying a little pressure. On my cooler I have to take the through bolts (screws) off to do this.
    Then reinstall the screws and secure. Seems to work for me.

    I use the small Bead Method myself, no twisting or spreading though. Just bead and apply heatsink and screw down

    Prime95's threads have idle priority by default, meaning they only get CPU time if there is no other process with higher priority that needs the CPU.

    Ok, so I re-seated my heatsink and ran a quick Prime95 blend test and my max core temp, full load was 66c. Is this an ok temp for this test? (Just wondering what core temp you guys are getting on a full load of Prime95 or IBT). If so, I'm going to try the 2x2 1066 ram and I'll have to up the DRAM voltage and I'm assuming McH voltage as well. I'll have to look back in this thread and see what McH voltage should be at for that memory.

    Each time I mess with ram settings, whats the best way to run a quick stability test; Maybe IBT or a short Prime95 blend test?

    thanx again guys 8)

    I get 73c with IBT and 64c with prime95 at 32c ambiant with my current OC.
    About 64c with IBT and 56c with prime95 at 3.16GHz 333FSB at the same ambiant temp.
    Keep in mind I have aftermarket heatsink and only 2 cores.

    Yes 66c for prime is good, sure is better than 70.

    Actually everytime you mess with your memory timings/voltage you should run memtest 1st(1 full pass) Then the other programs.

    +1 ^^^

    I use test 2+4+5 for several runs myself when tweaking memory timings, then HCI Memtest x3 (1024) within windows for 500-1xxx % before moving on to other tests

    So I was running Prime95 overnight again for about 9 hours on a blend test with core temp staying around 61-65c. So, while it was still runing this morning, I decided to go online and look at some stuff and then started downloading a program; Well, about halfway into downloading the program and installing my computer froze(I was still running prime95 while doing this) So is that a normal thing to happen while running prime95? Same thing happend yesterday morning, froze during prime95 while trying to run another program.

    I just hope my computer is ok so I can finally get passed this testing and move on. I dont OC at all, just want to make sure my comp is running fine stock ; ;

    thanx again all ^^
