    Question GA-EP45-UD3P BIOS Settings

Hello everyone. I just built my new rig and I have a question about the above MoBo.

I have (2) WD 750GB hard drives and I want to run RAID 1. I think I have it configured correctly, however, I can not see my two SATA DVD ROMS. Since I can't see them, I can not install the OS from DVD.

Can someone assist me with the BIOS settings so RAID 1 is correct along with the other SATA periphals I have?

    Thank you.

If you have your hdd's connected to the yellow intel controller you must connect the dvd to the purple jmicron/gigagbyte controller. Hdds in a raid setup cant not see a dvd drive on the same controller. thats why i still use a IDE dvd burner.

My hard drives are plugged in both purple ports. I just want to know what has to be enabled for RAID 1 in the BIOS. I am a little confused with what is suppose to be on RAID and AHCI.

With the settings I have now, when I try to install XP Pro, I get a blue screen that says:

    pci.sys - Address F748W0BF.

I'm assuming this has to do with the BIOS settings.

With hdds connected to the 2 purple controller you must enable Raid for a raid setup under integrated peripherals towards the bottom where it says onboard sata/Ide device to enable and ctrl mode to raid. If you are installing windows to these drives you need to press f6 doring install to supply the jmicron/gigabyte drivers for windows install. With Dvd drive connected to yellow intel controller at top of integrated peripheals set sata/raid ahci mode to disabled.

I had thought of that before about the driver. I will install the driver and see how it goes.

Now, what is all this talk about over clocking? What is the point of it and what would the settings be like in the BIOS?

overclocking is to get the most performace out of your hardware by pushing it further then whats intel or amd says it can do. search thought the post's here on tweaktown and in google for your your motherboard and cpu overclocking. start with this firstgigabyte-x38-p35-p965-ds-dq-s3-overclocking-general-bios-tweaking-guide

Download temp monitoring software like realtemp and use prime95, Intel Burn Test (IBT), LinX to stess the system out to check to see if its steable from here latest-overclocking-programs-system-info-benchmarking-stability-tools. If your going to overclock you better have a good after market cool. the stock intel one wont get you far.

Thank you. Well, I installed the RAID driver and the system is still blue screening. The error message I get is pci.sys address f748e0bf.

I am thinking there is something not configured in the BIOS. This is getting frustating.

after doing some google searching. I would boot into bios load optimized defualts save with F10. Renter bios change your raid settings and memory settings to what is labled on your ram. save changes with F10. Disconnect any all USB devices except keyboard and mouse. What version of XP are you installing Vinalla no service pack. SP1, SP2, SP3? if there is no service pack with your install disc google slip stream service pack 3 xp. to make your xp disk install xp with SP3. Also make sure you are using the correct raid drivers for the install process. When excatly are you getting this error. when it first boots off cd? when you enter driver for raid? while install disk is copying files? after first reboot?

i just loaded the optimized defaults and hit F10. I am attempting to load XP Pro with no service packs.

Where is the memory setting in the BIOS and what aer the correct RAID settings? This where I am getting confused.

I am blue screen after I install the RAID driver and the CD begins to load files.

Well, I got passed the blue screen of death. I slipstreamed XP Pro with SP3. Now what is happening is that during setup, Windows can't find my hard drives. If I start the install with my external USB 2.0 Seagate storage, Windows will find that.

I am certain it is a BIOS/RAID setup that I am missing. Any ideas?
