    Default Overclock on GA-X48-DQ6 problem

Bro, i have tried different settings on the bios and once i save and quit.. the bios screen loads and then just auto power off and on again and the overclock settings are restored to normal...

May i know how to overcome this problem? Looking safe and stable Overclock with stable CPU temperature.. hoping to achieve at least 3.0Ghz or 3.2Ghz if possible

    My Setup

Just updated my Bios to F7 but its still the same
The min multiplier is 6 and the max is 7

    Q9300 @ 2.5GHZ
    GA-X8-DQ6
    Corsair Dominator 2x2GB 1066MHZ rams
    Palit GTX260 Sonic 216sp
    Cooler Master V8 CPU cooler

    Idle Core temp 47,47,50,50
    Idle CPU temp 30

    Should be 7.5 I think.
For 3GHz you'll need 400FSBx7.5. It is suggested that you start by loading optimized defaults save reboot and then make the changes.
I'd start with 400FSB with CPU Ratio 6, this gives 2.4GHz, Performance Enhance standard, all timings auto, 2/2.66 memory multiplier and get it stable with MCH/DRAM/FSB Over voltage and Static tRead Value, whichever need to be adjusted. After that you can increase CPU Ration which should only need changes in CPU Voltage only. Likely you'll need +0.1v MCH OverVoltage with 400FSB and 4GB of memory.
Put your system specs and the link to your memory(manufacturer) web page, and fill the template in this post with your settings (working or not) and post it back wraped with code tags (click # in post editor toolbar then paste). Delete options that are not applicable to your board.
A screen capture of MemSet main and spd window, and EasyTunes advanced voltage may also be for a help.
You can find MemSet and other monitoring/stress/benchmark applications here.

Let me know if you need any further help and I will give you some settings to try to work with.

The reason that happens is because you used incorrect settings and they failed.

This guide was made for your board, so you should do some reading to learn a bit about things while you wait on replies here

If you do need help still with your settings please see the link in my signature for a template and then give us the settings you are trying that fail and we will advise back

I have done this and the same problem still occurs...

May i know for the memory multiplier.. whats the difference between 2.00D , 2.00B, 2.00A?

With 2.66 multiplier you need to set DRAM Voltage and timings to the memory spec for DDR-1066.
What is the normal CPU Voltage?
The reson I suggested 6 CPU Ratio was that the CPU is actually underclocked and would not need more voltage.

The difference multipliers are made for different bus speeds, my guess is they apply NorthBridge settings we don't have control over otherise.

ic.. the normal CPU voltage is set to 1.1875v

    but why underclock it?

So you don't have to worry about CPU voltage, it may need s slight increase but not too much. To take the CPU out of the equasion untill other settings are stable.

i see.. but after that what should i do to overclock and push it to 2.8 or 3.0Ghz..
    Sorry really newbie in Overclocking

Yes, and probably only CPU voltage would need to be increased then.
