    Default Q6600 + ud3r

    Well, i put in my quad back in after hitting 4Ghz+ with my e72. So now I'm trying to push my Q6600 to its limit. But no matter how much Vcore i put in it it wont do 350*9(3.15Ghz) i've gone up to 1.4V in bios and I get a rounding error instantly when i start prime. Any advise on my bios setting to make this OC stable? I've hit 3.2(400*9) a long time ago but I dont remember the settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, I'll try it right now. I updated my signature(sorry I didnt list specs) and heres the ram I have

    well, as i assumed the vcore of 1.365 with LLC off would probably end up under the VID of the chip which is 1.325. I tried that and it didnt POSTs, so i took the vcore up to 1.42 In bios and it seems stable so far with really acceptable temps. Im gonna let it prime for a bit and then come back to go even higher.

    How long did Prime95 run before you got the rounding error? Were you using the Blend test?
    Does your system pass Prime95 stability testing at stock speeds?
    Your memory is rated to run using 2.10 - 2.30 volts, unless the sticker on your memory says: Do not exceed 2.1V specification if listed on the module label.

    Using your low memory speed, 1.90 volts might not be enough.
    Post the Memset screen-shot using the SPD tab so that we can see what OCZ has programmed for different memory speeds.

    Increasing Cpu Termination can help with stability. Try increasing this gradually and see if Prime95 runs for longer times before it fails.
    The general recommendation is to keep this at least 0.05 - 0.10 volts lower than Cpu Vcore.

    ICH Core should be fine at 1.10 - 1.20 volts.

    MCH Core settings are critical for stability and avoiding Post/Boot issues. Too high or too low will cause problems.
    Most 2x2GB memory only requires 1.20 - 1.24 settings at lower cpu speeds. Some memory has problems unless MCH Core is set to 1.05 volts.

    If this were my system, here's what I would do:
    1) Load OPTIMIEZED bios settings using only 1 memory module.
    2) Save settings and exit.
    3) Enter the bios and make the basic settings in the first part of this post.
    4) Save settings and exit.
    5) Install the second memory module.
    6) Run Memtest86+ for at least 8 - 10 hours using a CD/DVD or floppy.
    7) Run Prime95/OCCT stability tests (all 3 tests) for 8 hours each or longer.

    PITA? Yes, but there's no sense in trying to solve o/c problems if your system isn't stable at stock settings.

    well, as advised, i ran the memtest on both of the sticks(one at a time) and did about 6-6.5hours on each of them, both ran about 12.5 passes with no errors. Now i put everything back on stock(Optimized settings) with the only change made to MCH Voltage(1.26) and mem voltage(2.2).

    These are the settings Im running at right now, just need help on how to start this over again(in the right direction that is =) )as its the hardest thing for me right now.

    Good start.
    Memtest86+ is usually run with both memory modules installed. Individual module testing is only done on each separate module if the initial test fails.
    OK, moving on ....
    Your primary memory timings are set to the mobo's AUTO defaults.
    Change Dram Timing Selectable to MANUAL and change the primary memory timings from 5-7-7-24 to the rated 5-5-5-15 settings.

    To ensure stability, run Prime95 (Blend) or OCCT (Medium Datasets) for 8 - 10 hours (longer is better). If there are no errors, you can continue with your overclock. You'll want to save these settings as a bios profile, giving it a name like Default266_1066.

    Given your problems at 350MHz, the next step could be at 333 MHz with some bios tweaks. At that time you'll want to run 3 extended tests:
    1) Prime95 Small FFTs
    2) Prime95 Blend
    3) Prime95 Large FFTs
    My preference is to run all three extended tests at each o/c level to ensure stability. Sometimes you'll easily pass two of the tests, only to fail on one test. If the test fails on small or large FFTs, this helps narrow down where the problem is.
    If any test fails, be sure to specify how long the failed test ran, and the details of which worker thread failed, for example:
    worker #1 failed after XX hours, yy minutes, large FFT = 1024

    Post your bios settings and the Memset/cpu-z/EasyTune6 screen-shot (from post #20) after your tests.

    Before I run Prime95 or OCCT extended tests, I run a short IBT (Intel BurnTest) for 10 -20 loops. If IBT passes, I then continue with the extended testing. You'll want to closely watch your Cpu and Cpu Core temperatures while running IBT.
