    Default GTX 260 on EX58-UD3R

good evening everyone. Just started up my machine to get on the forums. noticed my idle GPU temps were way higher than normal.

Now i've noticed in precision tool the clocks are not reducing themselves at idle like they usually do. Its stuck at 626 core , my bros is idling at 301.

Anybody know the setting to make it throttle down when at idle?

Thanks all for the help im about to receive.

Are you guys using the same BIOS's? Maybe your "Precision" tools settings do not match?

Sorry buddy, I really wouldn't know about Nvidia. Sounds like your 3D clocks are stuck on?

This may be better answered by someone in the Audio and Visual section, would you like me to copy your post to there for ya?

    Hi dbee,

I'd try reinstalling the latest drivers or using a different version of the drivers. That fixed my issue before (no 2d clocks...)

You might also have an app running in the background forcing 3d clocks... Try closing apps whilst checking your clocks with Evga Precision.

    p.s. Just found these:

I think he said in PM that he fixed it, just by doing what you said. I forgot to say that myself, but was thinking the same.

That was the issue, stuck in 3D mode.

Im gonna get those fresh drivers tonite, but i have not yet to open up Crysis again to see if it will go back to 2d mode when im done. I know for sure Crysis is what caused this, it started right i exited the game.

check all backround apps running, didnt see anything that could cause it.

Ill post later on when i see what happens after i open crysis again.

    Thanks guys.

I noticed this same thing with my primary gtx260 not wanting to down-clock at idle. It doesn't happen everytime not even after gaming. I first thought it might have something to do with S3 but this doesn't seem to be the case either. I hadn't noticed this under Vista x64, only with Windows 7 x64, but I just might not have seen it and only looking closely because checking everything out with windows 7. Its not a beta or RC issue cause I'm running the RTM version. It could also be the new 190+ WHQL nvidia drivers as well. I'll look into this more. Simply rebooting resolves the issue.

Likely just driver issues is all, if you do some testing try a few older versions and see if the same applies.

Drivers 190.62 have fixed this issue for me.
