Hmm, I would be testing these drives with the manufacturer tools, on another PC if possible to rule out the board as the cause

Also test install this CD in a virtual machine or another PC to be sure it is still ok before you go through all the other testing for no reason

i had the win 7 installed from that CD last week before the reboots took effect and it was working
the only reason teh OS doesnt work now is i didnt know how to save the raid when doing a bios flash.
as for the drives one is a band new one direct from WD. the other was a known good. But ill test em. Any idea of how to test them with out another working machine around? like any boot up tests i could use or try?

Ahh, well you can test them on that machine if you have to. I just thought if possible another would be better for testing

Here is WD's diagnostic tools in ISO format, you will need another Setup though to burn the CD
WD Support > Downloads > SATA Hard Drives > WD Caviar Black

You did check for, and remove any jumpers on the back of the drives correct? Just checking

KrisKJB I sorry I am finally connected again. What I was saying is I am sorry you disagree on the Windows Hardware Drivers as suspect, and totally understand if you feel that it is your motherboard. Please let us know how that RMA comes out.

oh the issue is a know thing with this mobo. There is no doubt to that. If you contact Giga support they will tell you. and RMAing it wont help youll just get the same board back but as a refurb. Honestly if its not to late return it. and get MSI or Asus
