Voltages needed depends on MANY things, so you can't always think about it like that.

maybe 555-1 would be best then

I must have asked too many questions coz I'm not sure what you're saying there about voltages. Sorry.

Sorry I said that because of your comment below >>
Did u see the ram question coupla posts back about OCZ and G-Skill etc? The OCZ takes more volts?

Ah, it was from a comment I read on Kingston HyperX implying the 2.2v caused shorter life, and generally bagging the brand. I then figured that maybe 2.1v was preferable.
So the OCZ 1200MHz are a contender, maybe even a winner, out of that list?

Well I advise if you must use 2.2V to only do so with a fan over the ram, it is very hot

I don't know about your ram choices, sorry I have never used any of their memory. What stores do you have, if you want me to look I can give me a link and tell me what you are looking to spend and what you want to get speedwise

    "When only the best will do, and isn't that all the time?" (-;

GameDude Computers OnLine Store The hyperlink doesn't change as you navigate, so select memory from left menu. They're the closest. (200kilometres)

    Memory - DDR2 - Scorpion Technology

    OCZ @ ITSDirect - OCZ 2GB (2x 1GB) DDR2 1200 Reaper Edition (PC9600 - OCZ2RPR12002GK) Ram Module Kit: In Stock
    OCZ @ ITSDirect - OCZ 4GB (2 x 2048mb) DDR2 1200 Flex EX (PC9600 - OCZ2FXE12004GK) RAM Module Kit: In Stock

    top end ocz

Between them they cover brands available in Australia.

Is US$200 (Oz dollar 86c US, so $240AU) unrealistic?

I know u prefer Mushkin, but no answer asia pacific rep. Stock on backorder from one of the links you gave me months ago, and the german one, I'll need a computer literate german friend to negotiate. Any other avenues?

And how much is left to gain (how much improvement) with top ram over what i have?
In terms of latency and read maybe? (to compare)
I probably need crossfire GPUs to break 20,000 in 3D06.

These are pretty good, but 1200 would be pushing them same as any ram really
    Team Group TXDD2048M800HC4DC-D - $59.00 - Scorpion Technology

    These are also good
    Product list

    Maybe these too
    Product list

Mushkin... Hmm, do you ebay? If so there is plenty of sellers that ship world wide

To Gain, well what do you do? If you benchmark all day then you may have plenty to gain with faster/better memory. If you just use your PC to play games or read emails and post on forums, maybe do an occasional benchmark or three then you wont have anything to gain at all and I would keep what you are using now.

You have Nvidia card right? If so you can't crossfire, or SLI for that matter with your board.

YES $200 US is TERRIBLE for a set of DDR2, costs maybe $50-80 for the better sets here

I'm still inclined to four gig, but for the extreme overclock is 2 gig better?

Ah, I have obsessive phases. This will have been one of them.
Is it on threshold of high temps and voltage escalation at 4.2GHz (444 bus)? This pc does my graphic arts work, email and site admin, so want to try to stop short of causing unreliability with my oc.

Yes, crossfire would mean 2 new ATI cards.

By gain i mean fps, 3dMarks, Super Pi times, that sort of thing ...

ProfJim: Hi! What do you suggest? Back to 52 and give it a try? I was a bit surprised it booted down to 46 or so but 48 saw gains in everest
Everest benchmark gains show synthetic performance gains or losses, but I was much more impressed with your gaming benchmark (fps) improvements.

My advanced timing settings are aggressive using 1-3-3-50-1 settings, but the gains are minimal compared to more moderate settings. I've found that stability requires a balanced approach with the advanced settings. My system was stable with tRFC = 48, but it didn't feel as smooth.

You will probably find that you'll get far greater gains with 450 - 460 FSB, using the 2.40B memory multiplier, even if tRD = 7 needs to be increased. Many high performance memory kits will do 1100MHz or a bit higher with minor voltage tweaks. You have the luxury of using 9.0 or 9.5 cpu multipliers. I'm crippled by my 7x multiplier and my system isn't stable using 495 - 528 FSB.
